Notes: By at least 1961, Sidebotham had taken on a couple of partners in his $12,000 dragster: Harvey Richardson and Paul O'Brien. Sidebotham had to balance time between his job as a mechanical engineer at the family's business and his racing. For that reason, except for a brief racing tour down South, he mostly stayed in New England. He considered Sanford Airport in Maine his "home" track. His mother reported the Sanford races to Drag News under the byline "Ma" Sidebotham. On July 23, he set a new track record of 8.70 at 170.4 mph. That 8.70 broke Chris Karamesines old record of 8.87 set the previous October 1960. On Aug. 13 at Sanford, he turned 8.78 at 168.50 mph. On Aug. 26, he was towed to York, PA, where he turned 9.00 at 180.076 mph. The next day, back at Sanford, he turned 172 mph for the meet's top speed. Notes: Kevin bought John Carter's Vega in late 1974. The team ran in 1974 and all of 1975. Built the Starfire (Monza) in the Winter of 75/76. Hal Canode-built car. - Brian Pilkington | Kevin was the runner-up to Ken Veney at NHRA Columbus. he qualified #5 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals with a 6.84/206.42. He lasted until round two, where his 6.91 lost to the race's eventual winner, Ken Veney's 6.81. | At the 1976 World Series of Drag Racing in August, Saturday Night Qualifying, Kevin Seibert ran 6.66, and Dick Titsworth ran 6.69 to qualify #1 and #2 in BB/FC! The same night, 6 AA/FCs (5 of the top 10 in the country) all ran 6.50s! And this was in Central Illinois! - Brian Pilkington | Kevin qualified #3 at Indy at 6.76. He ran 6.777/208.81 in round one to defeat a broken Terry Yates. In round two, Mark Niver got the jump at the line and took a 6.81/199.55 to 6.80/207.85 holeshot win.
