Notes: Stan qualified #1 at Bandimere for the NHRA Mile High Nationals with a 6.32/220.96. Only eleven cars showed, so he got the "odd-lot" solo in the first round, and ran 6.33/220.96. In round two, opponent Jett Field failed to show, so he singled with a 6.33/221.40. Things were looking good going into the semifinals against Chuck Cheeseman, who ran about a half-tenth off his pace. But in their race, Stan tossed a blower belt and slowed to a losing 7.14. He then went to Sonoma for the NHRA California Nationals, where he qualified #8 with a 6.12/230.82. Another 6.12 at 229.47 advanced in round one, when Hans Kuesel fouled, and he had a really tight race against Brad Anderson in round two that saw Sipos' 6.05/232.79 edge out Brad's 6.05/234. He easily beat Billy Williams in the semifinal with a 6.06/233.88. His final-round opponent was Bret Williamson. Bret was at least a tenth of a second off of Stan's pace, and it stayed that way in the final. Sipos got the victory with a 6.04/223.28 over Bret's 6.13/229. Shortly after that, he was in Seattle for the NHRA Northwest Nationals. A 6.07/229.24 qualified #4. He beat John Hyland in the opening round with a 6.13/226.47, and a round two 6.08/226.52 stopped Bucky Austin's 6.11/228. Eventual winner Pat Austin beat his 6.09/226.52 in the semifinal with a 6.03/231. He did not race at Brainerd for the NHRA Northstar Nationals. Near the end of August, he was at Race City Speedway in Calgary for the fifth NHRA Division 6 race. He picked up the victory by stopping Field in the final with a 6.21 (Low ET) at 225.00. Surprisingly, he also did not compete at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals. The next Division 5 race was held at Bandimere on September 15. Stan set Low ET and Top Speed in qualifying number one with a 6.27/224.83. A first-round 6.40/222.60 beat Lance Van Hauen, and in the semifinals, Bucky Austin's 6.32/221 lost to his 6.29/223.24. He beat Corky East's 6.46/214 in the final with a 6.33/221.45. As the NHRA Keystone Nationals were run on the same day, he obviously did not race there either. The last NHRA Division 6 race was run at Nl'akapxm Eagle Motorplex the following week (September 22). Only five cars showed, and Sipos seemed down on power here. He only qualified #4 with a 6.25/223.74, and the car broke against Hyland in the first round, losing with a 6.82/169.26. He also missed the NHRA Heartland Nationals, and his next NHRA Major event appearance came at the Chief Auto Parts Nationals. There, he qualified #6 with a 6.01/234.86. But in the opening round, his 6.06/231.18 lost to Jody Austin's 6.01/231. Stan went to Firebird Raceway the following week (October 20) for the NHRA Division 7 final. He set Low ET during qualifying at 6.10. The speed on his pass was 227.61. He beat Jim DePasse in the first round, before his 6.22/225.96 lost to Mark Woznichak's 6.21/222 in round two. Sipos qualified number two at the Winston Finals at Pomona with a 6.069 229.34 and went on to win the race with a 6.069 230.88 over Gary Scelzi's 6.162 227.96. Notes: Stan didn't race at the first two NHRA nationals events of the year, but he was at Houston in the first week of March for the NHRA Slick 50 Nationals. It turned out to be a bad weekend for him. He ran 5.96/233.94 to qualify second behind Randy Anderson's 5.96/235. In the first round, he raced against Al DaPozzo. Sipos got out of shape and crashed the car hard into the guardrail. The car was reported to be a total loss.

Notes: Just thirteen years old at the beginning of 1953, Bobby Sir Kegian was almost unbeatable right out of the gate. But he had started riding motorcycles at the age of six, so he wasn't exactly a rookie. His father, Bob Sir Kegian, owned a large Triumph motorcycle dealership in Los Angeles. During the season, little Bobby raced on four different bikes owned by him and his father. On Jan. 4 at Pomona, he won the gas motorcycle class with 104.64 mph. At Pomona on April 5, he took a win in the C Gas Motorcycle class with 109.60 mph. He took a win in the A Gas Motorcycle class on May 4 at Pomona with 101.93 mph. On May 31 at Pomona, he won the trifecta, taking wins in the A and B Fuel Cycle class and the A Gas Cycle class. In Class A Fuel, he clocked 98.95 mph; in B Fuel, he ran 104.77 mph; and in A Gas, he turned 104.58 mph. He took a three-peat a week later at Pomona on June 7, taking class wins in B Fuel and A and B Gas Cycle. In class A Gas on a 40-inch Triumph, he ran 98.94 mph. In class B Gas on a 30.50-inch Triumph, he won with a 97.43 mph clocking. He won in B Fuel with 97.44 mph. At a July race at Saugus, his Triumph Twin clocked 110.86 mph in the 40-inch class and 105.90 in the 30.50-inch class. The last result was the fastest anyone had ever run on a two-cylinder bike engine in that class. On Oct. 18 at Pomona, he took a win on his 40-inch Triumph in B Gas Cycle with 106.88 mph. He took another triple win on Oct. 25 at Pomona in A and B Gas and B Fuel cycle classes. In A Gas, he turned 101.92 mph, 106.31 mph in B Gas, and 109.81 mph in B Fuel. It was the same old story on Nov. 8 at Pomona. He took wins in B Fuel (109.99 mph), A Gas (108.50 mph), and B Gas (109.99 mph). Notes: Little Bobby Sir Kegian was only 13 years old when he began drag racing Triumph motorcycles prepared by his father's dealership. He was just about unbeatable at Pomona in the cycle classes in 1953. He won his first race at Pomona on Jan. 4 in the gas class cycle category with 104.64 mph. Pretty dang good for a youngster. On April 5, in Class C Gas Cycle at Pomona, the lad turned 109.60 mph. From then on, it was off to the races. The next week, at the 2-day Southern California Championship Drag Races at Pomona on April 11-12, he won A Class (96.54 mph) and B Class (99.86 mph). On May 24 at Pomona, he won the gas cycle class with 101.93 mph. On May 31 at Pomona, he was the whole show. Using both 30.50 and 40 cubic-inch Triumphs, he won the A fuel (98.95 mph), B fuel (104.77 mph), and A Gas (104.58 mph) cycle classes. A week later, on June 7, he won in three bike classes again: B Fuel (97.44 mph), A Gas (98.94 mph), and B Gas (97.43 mph). He was on fire and his daddy's pride and joy. In July at Saugus, he clocked 110.86 mph in the 40-inch class and 105.90 mph in the 30.50 class on his Triumph Twin. In the latter class, it was the fastest anyone had ever ridden on a two-cylinder engine in that class. On Oct. 18 at Pomona, he won the B Class Gas with 106.88 mph. On Oct. 25 at Pomona, he got another triple win. He took B Fuel bike (109.81 mph), A Gas Class (101.92 mph), and B Class Gas (109.81 mph). On Nov. 8 at Pomona, he repeated with another three-peat: B Fuel (109.99 mph), A Gas (108.50 mph), and B Gas (109.99 mph). On Nov. 22 at Pomona, he scored a double win: A Gas (103 mph) and B Fuel (109 mph). He closed out the year at Pomona on Dec. 27 with a triple victory: B Fuel (108 mph), A Gas (111.94 mph), and B Gas (108.30 mph).
