Notes: Mike was the #4 qualifier at Indy at 6.221/222.77. He took a 6.450/226.13 first-round win over Stan Bowman, but fouled against Dan Richins in round two. At Ontario, Mike qualified #2 at 6.108/227.84 after Ed Renck's 6.08. In a mirror of the Indy round two, he beat a fouling Dan Richins in round one, with an 8.15 shut off. In round two, he ran 6.14/227.84 when Clayton Harris shut off on the line. Round three saw Mike become the first NHRA 5, and second member of the Cragar Five Second Club (after Tommy Ivo's match race time). Snively snoozed with a 5.974/235.69 to become the first NHRA racer in the fives, but Vic Brown left on him and won with a slower 6.034/231.95. Mike also ran 6.15 at Lions Last Drag Race. |

Notes: Mike was the fifth alternate at NHRA Pomona on the absolutely terrible track. Assuming it was in Jim Annin's car. If so, it was a far cry from his groundbreaking five-second blast of just a few months before at Ontario. Unfortunately, Mike committed suicide later this year. |

Notes: Pacers Automotive, NHRA AA/A record 63/64/65. In 1964 & 1965, the Tasmanian Devil ran 162.45 in 9.510 at Englishtown, NJ. Was this 1964 or 1965? In 1965 switches between gas & nitro. Sometimes races as AFD. |

Notes: AWB, Hilborn-injected fuel. This photo depicts car as it ran prior to paint. Ted DeTar broke this car in. Ran in 1966 this way until getting stretched by T-Bar, and '66 nose was aded. Snow ran car through 1968, when he sold it to Mike Brown. Car was then run in brackets in 1970s by Richardson family. |

Notes: Gene Snow's "Rambunctious" 1965 Dart is one the greatest race cars of all time. Snow won two US Nationals in a row with the car in 1966 and 1967. The Dart was built from a stock Dodge. Over the course of a couple of years, T-Bar Chassis jcompletely rebuilt the car. The Dart was steel, save for the fiberglass front end. All unneeded weight was cut off and the interior was replaced with aluminum. The Dart had windows to begin with, but they were taken out later. When T-Bar rebuilt the car, they also lengthened the chassis. The Dart was a good racer before the rebuild and was great afterward. Snow won the two races at Indy and countless match races all over the country. The Dart was well known for leaving with the wheels up, but going straight. Gene won Indy 1966 running C/Fuel Dragster with a 9.04. Set both ends of the C/FD record at Austin TX in July 66 at 9.33/153.58. |

Gene ran a great 8.61/158.00 clocking with the car. Jake Johnston took over the car after Snow built his AA/FC. The Dart was a winner for its next owners, Mike Brown and the Richardson family. Snow bought the car back and restored it to 1966 standards. At Indy 1967, Snow repeated his 1966 triumph with an 8.67 run in the newly created Super Eliminator class. - NHRA |

Notes: Confirm fuel. Ran on gas (B/A I think) and won Competition Eliminator at '68 Winternationals - last of 3 wins ('66 Indy Comp, '67 Indy Super, were the others) for this car. We need to get times for this. Replaced by '68 flip-top Dart on nitro (I.D.: 5894). - Bill McLauchlan |
