Notes: Tom was the #2 qualifier at the NHRA Summernationals at York with a 7.43/197.36. He lost round one to Larry Arnold, 7.33/200, to an 11-second shutoff. On August 23, he was at Suffolk for an eight-car show. His 7.47/197.80 in the opening round beat Mel Perry, but he lost to Pee Wee Wallace in the semi-final. He was the first alternate at Indy with a 7.27/206.42. His next stop was at Epping for its New England FC Nationals. Sneden's 7.31/202 beat Connie Kalitta in the first round, but the Challenger broke and could not run the second round. Vic Brown took his place in the field. Tom also ran 203.60 at Gainesville on 11/28/70.

Notes: Tom was at Miami for a best of three match race against Bobby Rowe driving the "Super Duster" in February. The first race was won by Rowe's 7.11/205 over Sneden's 7.21/206.42. In the second race, Rowe got out of shape and shut off while Tom set both ends of the track record with a winning 7.04/211.76. In the final and deciding race, the roles were reversed from the previous one. Tom got out of shape and shut it down to 12.84/64.70, while Bobby matched Tom's track record with a 7.04 of his own at 207 to win the match. At the end of May, Tom was at Atco Dragway for a best of three match against Connie Kalitta. It was not a good showing for the "Bob Banning" car. It broke in the first race. Sneden's best pass was a 7.26/199.55 in the second race, losing to Kalitta's 7.05/189. In the final race, his off pace 7.94/145.16 gave Kalitta a three straight victory. | Iron block hemi and TorqueFlite. The team replaced this Logghe frame car with a Woody Gilmore car in '72. - BM

Notes: Tom qualified on the bump at the 1972 NHRA Gatornationals with a 6.896/201.79, losing to Leroy Goldstein in the first round, 6.73/216 to 6.900/215.82. He reset the track record at Connecticut Dragway on May 7 with a 6.57/221. Tom qualified #11 at NHRA Englishtown at 6.752/214.80. In round one, he fell to Larry Fullerton's all-time quickest 6.400/228.42 with a 6.940/183.29. Sneden won the Cars Championships held at Atco Dragway on July 30. It was a sixteen-car show, and in the first round, his 6.64/220.58 advanced when Joe Jacono lost fire. A 6.72/205.94 defeated Gary Henderson's 6.84/209 in the "Super Duster" in round two, and in the semifinal, a 6.92/193 advanced when Charlie Therwhanger lost fire. He faced the Chevy-powered Vega of Kelly Chadwick in the final. Chadwick had trouble and shut off to 9.46/98 while Sneden picked up the victory with a 6.89/197.80.
