Notes: Also ran 8.01/188.66 at Bakersfield March Meet 3/64 in Top Fuel and is listed at 7.89/178 in Gas Dragster. Rick faced off against Jerry Baltes in a best of three match race at Ramona on May 17. He won the first race with an 8.17/195.64, but a quicker 8.11/195.64 lost to Baltes' holeshot 8.25/188 in the second race. The deciding round had Baltes win the match race with an 8.07/187 over Rick's 8.14/194.38. The following week (May 24), Stewart was at Ramona, where he ran 198.23 and backed it up with a 196.53. On September 26, Rick was at Fontana for a twelve-car show. He qualified #4 with a 7.97/193.44. A first-round 7.90/196.06 beat Herb Ries, but in round two, his 7.86/197.80 lost to Jeep Hampshire's 7.77/200. The next day, Stewart was at San Fernando. Only three cars showed for T/F. Rick ran 7.84/194.38 in qualifying and won the race by beating John Mitchell with a 7.75/192.30 in the final. He was runner-up to Tom McEwen at Fontana on October 24, and he was there again on October 31 for a sixteen-car UDRA Meet. He advanced past round one with a 7.77/194.80, while in round two, his 7.74/195.64 beat Roy Thode's 7.97/192. Unfortunately, Rick hurt his engine on the run and could not run Bill Alexander in the semifinals. He got a win on November 14 over an eight-car field at Lions. Rick's 8.22/189.06 beat Wayne King's 8.43/190 in round one, and in the semifinals, his 8.18/192.30 beat James Warren. He faced Bill Alexander in the final, and Bill pushed the light too hard and fouled, giving Stewart's 8.19/192.70 the win. The following day he was at Carlsbad for the track's first race. Thirty-three cars attempted to qualify for the eight-car field. Rick made the show, but both he and Jack Williams fouled in the first round, so both were disqualified.

Notes: Rick started the year in this car at Riverside on January 1 for the KFWB Festival race. He qualified #6 in the eight-car field with a 7.99/192. In the opening round, his 7.90/182.92 beat Dave Babler. In the semi-final, he shut down to 8.24/124.48 in a loss to eventual winner Jack Williams' 8.13/194. He was at Fontana the following day for a sixteen-car show. Stewart's 7.85/191.48 defeated Jeep Hampshire, who shut down in the first round. The car was ailing in round two, and he lost to Danny Ongais, who would go on to win the event. He faced Tom McEwen in a best-of-three-match race at Lions on January 16. The race only needed two rounds as Rick won two straight with times of 7.90/196.92 and 7.81/184.04. He also ran 8.12 at Carlsbad on 6/13/65 and 191.88 at Lions on 6/12/65.

Notes: Rick was driving for Crossley on March 20 for an eight-car show at Irwindale. He qualified #4 with a 7.73 and ran 7.61/203.16 and 7.64/203.16 in the semifinals over Mike Snively in the "Hawaiian." In the final, his 7.75/208.32 (Top Speed) finished runner-up to Dave Beebe's 7.54/205. He was runner-up again, this time at a sixteen-car show at Irwindale on April 23. Stewart qualified #3 with a 7.79 and ran a first-round 7.80/212.26 over Dave McKenzie. An 8.39/137.63 advanced past the second round when the Wilton and Doss car lost fire. In the semifinals, he was sharp on the lights as his 7.71/213.28 (Top Speed) beat Snively's quicker 7.58/206 in the "Hawaiian." Unfortunately, the car lost fire in the final, giving Jim Dunn an easy 8.73 victory. The following day (April 24), he was at Pomona for a Pro Fuel Circuit race. It was a sixteen-car show, and he lasted until round two, where his off-pace 8.21 lost to eventual winner Tom McEwen's 7.75. Stewart was at Irwindale on May 7 for an eight-car show. He set Top Speed with a 7.99/213.28 in qualifying. It was good enough for the #8 spot in the field. He picked up to 7.84/179.64 in the first round, but it wasn't enough as Dunn's 7.63/209 beat him. A week later (May 14), he returned to Irwindale for another eight-car show. A 7.81 qualified #4. In the first round, he was sharp on the 'tree as his 7.85/203.60 beat Zane Schubert's quicker 7.72/209. But in the semifinals, "Fireman" Jim stopped him again. Dunn's 7.68/204 beat Stewart's 7.83/205.00. At the HRM Championships at Riverside, Rick used a 7.62/209.30 to qualify #12 in the 32-car field. He lasted until round two when McEwen stopped him with a 7.43/195 to his 7.69/207.84. On June 25, Rick was at Irwindale for an eight-car show. He qualified #4 with a 7.65. In the first round, Stewart's 7.69/210.76 beat Ron Goodsell's 7.78/200 in the "Imperial." Rick had a little nap on the line in the semifinals with his 7.73/205.00, losing to Danny Ongais' 7.81/200.

Notes: After a two-year lay-off from driving, Rick 'Iceman' Stewart showed up at Beeline Dragway behind the wheel of Bill Crossley's car. He qualified #14 in the 32-car field, and he beat "Sneaky Pete" Robinson, Jim Nicoll, and Dave Beebe(in that order) before losing to Cliff Zinc in the semifinal. He was at Lions early in February for an eight-car show, but his 7.32 best left him the first alternate. The team's next stop was at OCIR for the second All-Pro race. This was another eight-car field, but 35 cars attempted to get into the show. Unfortunately, Rick failed to better the 7.18 needed to get into the field. On March 8, Rick tried to qualify Crossley's car at another eight-car show at Lions. Unfortunately, his best of 7.29 was good for the first alternate. In a "just for kicks" race against Dave Beebe, he ran 7.33/209.17 to beat Beebe's 7.74/207. He was qualified #32 with a 7.23 at the HRM Championships on March 16. A first-round 7.41/196.93 lost to Jerry Ruth's 7.04/218. Back at Lions on April 19, he found himself as the first alternate at 6.91. But Frank Rupert qualified and could not compete, so Stewart took his place in the field. His 6.94/211.76 defeated Kelly Brown's better 6.86/195 in Lou Baney's Ford in the opening round. He faced low qualifier, Butch Maas, driving for Tony Waters in the semifinal, and Maas got out of shape and shut off while Rick's 6.93/212.76 advanced. Gary Cochran was his final-round opponent, and Rick slowed to 7.06/208.81 in a runner-up finish to Gary's 6.84. The team was at Lions regularly, and on May 10, they were back but failed to qualify for the eight car show. By June, Wayne King replaced him behind the wheel.
