Notes: Stidham began the year at Pomona with a 6.896 202.24, putting him in the third spot. In the first round, he fell off to 7.13 and lost to Lee Zeinert's 7.04. Jackie Stidham was at the top of the field at Green Valley Race City WWCS 3/83 with a 6.71 201.34. Stidham crossed the centerline in the first round against eventual runner-up Tommy Van Gossen. Stidham raced the Amarillo WWCS from the fifth spot at 7.09/204.39. He lost the first round with a 7.11 200.83. Stidham was the second qualifier at the NHRA Baton Rouge 5/83 race with a 6.679/209.30. He won the first round with a 6.725/208.33 but broke. NHRA US Nationals 9/83 Stidham did not qualify with a 6.747/205.94. Jackie Stidham was the number one qualifier at the AAFCC race at the Houston Armadillo Nationals. In the finals, Dennis Piranio made it to the finals to face Jackie Stidham. Notes: All American Funny Car number 5. In 1985, the car had a different paint job or lettering. The Arrow got a new body; the chassis was the former Gwynn's Baby Huey. Jackie failed to qualify at the first NHRA Division 4 race at Green Valley and the second NHRA Division 4 race at State Capitol Raceway, as well as the third event at Amarillo. But at the fourth Division 4 race at Alamo Dragway, he qualified #4 in the eight-car field with a 6.87/182.92. He improved to 6.75/193.96 in the first round, to beat alternate James Brown's 7.32, and in the semifinals, his 6.79/197.36 beat Bill Wendt's 6.90. That put him in the final against Dal Denton. Jackie had problems, and his 11.70-72.86 finished runner-up to Dal's 6.69/208. He was the first alternate for the eight-car field at the NHRA Cajun Nationals with a 6.581/207.27. Stidham made it to the finals against Dal Denton a the Alamo WWCS, where he lost. Stidham qualified number four 6.87 182.92; he ran 6.75 193.96, 6.79 197.36, and 11.70 in the finals. On June 7, Stidham faced Paul Albers in a match race at Paris Drag Strip in the only TA/FC race ever held there. On June 14, he was at 1/20 Dragway in Tyler, Texas, for an All-American Funny Car circuit race. Sixteen cars attempted to qualify for the eight-car field on the 1,000-foot track. Jackie's 5.86/185.95 qualified #7. In the first round, an off-pace 6.85/97.40 lost to Harold Lewelling's 5.81/182. The next NHRA Division 4 race was at Houston on June 23. He qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car show with a 6.93/181.81. In the first round, he survived a close one with Larry Reep, where his 6.81/177.86 narrowly beat Reep's 6.80/213. The Stidham Bros. debuted he Corvette at Green Valley Race City WWCS 2/86 race. Stidham was the number three qualifier with a 6.66 at only 166. Stidham picked up the pace in the first round, with a 6.58/203.58 run over Wayne Nickelson. Jackie Stidham ran 6.87/200.71 in Amarillo WWCS 5/86. Stidham ran 6.84, 6.81, and 6.79 to win the Amarillo WWCS 5/86 race. Stidham made the NHRA Baton Rouge 1986 race qualifying #3 with a 6.435/214.59. He fell to Chuck Phelps in the first round. Ran NHRA Beech Bend KY 6/86. Jackie Stidham was the runner-up at the Houston WWCS 7/86. Stidham qualified 6.61 209.30 on the way to the runner-up spot he ran 6.61 210.77, 6.58/210.77 and 6.68/210.77. The alcohol classes featured an eight-car field, and his 6.60/214.08 best was good for the second alternate. | At the NHRA Chief Auto Parts Nationals in Dallas, Jackie ran 6.357/215 to qualify on the bump of the 16-car field. He would face #8 Qualifier Fred Hagen in round 1 & advanced to the 2nd round after Hagen red lighted away a 6.261. Jackie would then face #4 Qualifier Dal Denton in the Simpson & Sons Daytona, Unfortunately Stidham's 6.371/212.01 was no match for Denton's 6.262/224.49. | Tod Close (see TAFC entry) and Hap Johnson (owner TAD, TAFC, AAFA) were the crew.
