Notes: He began racing this blown Chrysler dragster in 1956, twice setting strip records at Roanoke in 1956. The next year, he set a new track record on May 17 at Roanoke Drag Strip of 130.04 mph. On May 24 at Manassas, he took top eliminator with 10.40 at 108 mph. At the Dixie Championships at Roanoke on May 31, carburetor problems kept his speed to 120.80 mph. On June 7 at Roanoke Drag Strip, he took top eliminator honors and broke the strip record again with 131.90 mph. It was the second time he had broken the track record in the '59 season. Notes: In late July, Swecker put his old home-built dragster in mothballs and debuted his new dragster in early August. He built it with the help of Glenn Houlihan. Power came from a blown '58 Chrysler engine that they swapped out from the old dragster. He took top eliminator honors at Roanoke Drag Strip on Aug. 9 with 111.11 mph. During time trials, he clocked 121.78 mph, evidencing promise of better things to come. On Aug. 30, he turned the meet's top speed at Roanoke with 116.73 mph on a rain-shortened Blue-Gray East Coast Championship race. On Sep. 13 at Roanoke, he won top eliminator with 121.45 mph. He also set a new track record with a stout 138.24 mph. On Oct. 11 at the Virginia All-State Championships at Roanoke, Swecker won top eliminator and a 5-foot tall trophy with 127.65 mph. Notes: Richard Swecker was an auto mechanic who decided to build a Top Fuel dragster. He built the 130" long chassis and installed a 392 Hemi that was bored out to 398. M/T rods held 6:1 Forgedtrue pistons and Isky was chosen for the cam. An Isky drive also was used and the GMC 6/71 had a Hilborn four-port injector on top. A Schiefer 11" clutch was used. On one of the car's early runs, Swecker ran 7.94/196.54.

Jim Swedberg from Grand Forks, ND, drove the dragster, while Ben Griffin from Dallas, TX, shoed the flopper.
