Thomas in the semis went up against #2 Qualifier Greg Moss where both Thomas & Moss had Handling problems but Thomas couldn't recover & Watched the eventual runner-up Moss take the win.

Notes: On August 16, Mark was at the Nebraska Motorplex for the IHRA Mid-America Nationals. Only ten cars showed, and Mark's 6.11/229.12 (Low ET and Top Speed) qualified #1. A first-round 6.67/152.61 advanced when Lance Van Hauen broke, and in round two, he got the "odd-lot" solo and ran 6.30/217.23. Thomas got another free pass in the semifinals when Ray Motes fouled, but he still legged it through with a 6.17/224.43 to advance to the final. There he faced #2 qualifier Floyd East. Mark got the victory with a 6.15/225.96 over East's 6.29/214. At Norwalk for the IHRA World Nationals, Mark qualified #7 with a 6.19/224.04.
