Notes: Wallace was at Richmond on June 30 for a best of three match against Phil Bonner. He lost two straight with a 10.89/127.95 best. | Former A990 recreated with factory parts and financial help in 1965. Pee Wee Wallace raced it on the east coast in 1965/66, eventually injected and on fuel. Located by Mike Guffey circa 1992. Now restored and in a private collection. |

Notes: Wallace was in New England on May 19 for the AHRA Grand Stock Circuit race. It was an eight-car field, and his 9.70 qualified #5. Unfortunately, that set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Tom Sneden. The results were predictable as Sneden's 9.61/144 beat Pee Wee's 9.77/140. On June 16, he went to Suffolk for another eight-car show. His 9.50/146.10 beat Wayne Gapp's Cougar in the opening round. In the semifinals, his 9.66/145.39 lost to Tom Smoker. |

Notes: Surprisingly, this car was run for two seasons, and in its first season ('69), the car's performance was only fair. But in '70, it ran really well, setting 29 track records across eastern strips and becoming the NHRA Division 1 points champion. The car ran a best of 7.09/215.71. Wallace ran an eight-car NHRA Circuit race at Blaney on April 4. He lost to Phil Castronovo in the first round but got back in on the break rule. In the semis, he ran an 8.14/175.74 over Tom Sneden and then went on to win by defeating Mel Perry in the final with an 8.02/197.44. He met Charlie Allen for a match race at Maple Grove on May 30. In the first race, he beat Allen's 7.92/160 with a 7.70 at a track speed record of 202.70. In the second race, Wallace's 7.67/199.54 lost to Allen's 7.44/187.36, and in the final race, Allen took the match with a 7.54/173 that beat Pee Wee's off pace 8.53/191.48. On July 25, he was back at Maple Grove for its Coca-Cola FC Meet. A 7.88/185 in the opening round, lost to Bruce Larson's 7.70/184. | Pee Wee ran 7.37/206.89 at Atco NJ Championships in 1970 from a Quaker State Oil ad that touted Pee Wee's amazing 1970 season. Pee Wee also ran 7.45 at Suffolk. - Mike Gagnon |

Notes: Wallace was at Atco in April for an NHRA Funny Car circuit race. It was an eight-car show, and in the first round, his 7.82/155.44 beat Tom Sneden's sleepy 7.75/205 in the "Bob Banning" Dodge. In the semifinal, the "Alabamian" lost fire on the line against Roy Harris. Shortly after that, he was at Suffolk for another eight-car show. A few raindrops were falling when he ran an 8.50 to beat Pete Hill in the first round, and the race was then rained out. On April 15, he went to Cecil County for its National Open. A 6.89 qualified him #4 in the eight-car field. Pee Wee's 6.94/205.94 beat Al Hanna's 7.09 in the "Eastern Raider" in the opening round. In the semifinal, he stopped Dale Emery's off-pace 7.60/144 with a 7.06/200.00. He faced Arnie Swensen in the final, and Wallace's car broke a blower belt. Swensen got the victory with a 7.06/200. He got another runner-up finish at the NHRA Division 1 opener held at Englishtown on May 6. In round one, Wallace got some "revenge" on Swensen, where his 6.65/216.86 beat Arnie's 6.91/188. An even better 6.55/218.97 stopped Sam Miller's 7.18/145 in the "Bostonian" in the semifinal. He faced low qualifier Emery in the "Jegs" Camaro in the final. The hard-running Camaro dished out a 6.48/183 to beat Wallace's 6.67/218.44. Later in May, Wallace was at York US 30 for its Funny Car Nationals. Unfortunately, he lost to Emery's 6.84 in the opening round. In mid-June, Wallace was one of four cars competing in a "round-robin" race at ESTA. In Pee Wee's first race, his 6.96/196.06 lost to Hill's 6.84/181. He ran 7.12/180.72 in his second race against Harlan Thompson's 7.58/131 but fouled while doing it and lost. Wallace ran his best numbers in his last race, but his 6.84/196 lost to David Ray's 6.65/206 in Mike Burkhart's Vega. He then went to Cayuga, Ontario, for the Canadian All-Pro Championships. He didn't stick around long, as his off-pace 8.03/131.57 in the first round lost to "Jungle Jim" Liberman's Vega at 6.88/208. |

Notes: Pee Wee Wallace was one of the strongest of the Eastern FC's campaigning in '74. Wallace went to York US 30 for its Funny Car Nationals on May 4. He set Top Speed at 216.86 before defeating "Jungle Jim" Liberman in the final with a 6.65/214.28. He won the NHRA Division 1 opener held at Englishtown the next day. He had a little luck along the way with his first-round 7.00/206.42 advancing when Bob Mayer broke on the line. Jim Byrd got crossed up and shut off against him in the semifinal while Wallace ran 7.56/198.67 to win. In the final, Bob Lagana smoked the tires in Ron Leaf's Vega and slowed to 7.46/214 while Pee Wee ran 6.80/216.86 (Top Speed) for the victory. It wasn't long before he chalked up another win, and that came at Atco's tenth annual Funny Car Factory Showdown. Fred Goeske fell to his 6.65/200.44 in the opening round, and in the semifinal, his 6.58/210.77 beat Tom Prock's 6.74/207 in the "Custom Body" car. Pee Wee faced Raymond Beadle in the final who was driving one of Don Schumacher's 'Cuda's. Despite Beadle setting Low ET and Top Speed in their final round race, Wallace got out on him, and his 6.57/214.28 got the victory over Beadle's 6.55/225. He also won the second NHRA Division 1 race at Cayuga, Ontario, on May 19. A final round 6.79/209.79 (Top Speed) beat Tom Prock in the final. Pee Wee was the first alternate at NHRA Columbus with a 6.874/199.55. The following week (June 16), he was at Bristol for the IHRA Springnationals. Unfortunately, the car broke, and he could not race Pete Miner in the first round. His next stop was at Maple Grove for the third NHRA Division 1 race. There were 18 FC's that attempted to qualify for the eight-car field, and Wallace qualified #5. That set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Kosty Ivanof. In their race, Wallace upset Kosty's 6.66/210 with a 6.60/212.76. But he lost to Jimmy King in the semifinal. He was at Englishtown on July 3 for the Funny Car Spectacular. All twelve cars ran the first-round, with the four lowest ET's advancing into the semifinals. Pee Wee ran 6.83/213.77 while beating Jake Crimmins in his first race, but his ET failed to make it into the semis. He did run a consolation race where he beat Fred Goeske with a 6.80/203.16. He was back at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals, where he qualified #9 at 6.557/217.71. This set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Don Prudhomme. The "Snake" got the win with a 6.39/204 over Wallace's 6.68/198. Shortly after that, he was at Suffolk for an eight-car show. Once again, he performed well, running 6.77/198.45 to beat Ron Jackson in the "High Explosive" Vega and then a 6.69/203 in the semifinal to defeat George Reese's 6.72/207. He was to race Paul Smith, who was behind the wheel of the "Fireball Vega" in the final, but the "Alabamian" blew its engine on the line, so Smith soloed at 7.93/147 for the win. Pee Wee qualified #6 at Sanair with a 6.767/212.76. In round one, he lost to Shirl Greer, 6.61/191 to 7.15/159. Then he made a trip up to Canada for the Player's Funny Car Championships held at Cayuga Dragway Park in Ontario. They ran the event with two eight-car fields. The quick eight and the second eight. Wallace didn't quite make it into the quick eight. In the second eight's opening round of eliminations, his 6.95/193.96 beat Prock, who smoked the tires at 8.15. In the semifinal, Pee Wee's 6.89/194.80 fell to Gene Snow's 6.80/181. He went to Atco for the NHRA Division 1 final and won that. He set Low ET in the final with a 6.56/213 that beat Lagana. The win gave him the NHRA Division 1 Funny Car crown. Wallace went to New England in Sept for the Funny Car Nationals. It was a 32-car show, and in the opening round of eliminations, his 6.77/206 beat the "Country Girl." In round two, both he and "Jungle Jim" Liberman ran 6.58 (Wallace at 215), but JJ got the "win" light. At the end of September, he went back to Bristol for the IHRA All-American Nationals. It was a sixteen-car field, and his 6.61 qualified #6. Unfortunately, he hurt his engine and was unable to run in eliminations. Cliff Brown took his place in the field. |

Notes: Jim brought out this second car (sister to the Black Magic Vega), but it only ran in 1975. Wallace was at Englishtown in April for its Spring Funny Car Championships. It was an eight-car field, and in the first round, his 6.91/207.85 beat Paul Smith. He improved to 6.75/213.77 in a semifinal win over Tommy Grove. In the final, he faced Grove again as Tom Prock had exploded a supercharger while winning and could not run the final. Once again, Wallace was able to beat Grove. This time his victory came with a 6.56 (Low ET) at 214.28. In May, he was at Maple Grove for the Dutch Classic race. Unfortunately, he crossed the centerline and was disqualified in the first round, while racing eventual winner "Jungle Jim" Liberman. Shortly after that, he was at Cayuga for the second NHRA Division 1 race. He set Top Speed during qualifying at 214.28, and in the opening round of eliminations, his 6.98/207.37 beat Stephen Bernd. In the semifinals, a 7.02/207.37 beat a wheelstanding Jim Wemett. His final-round opponent was Ira Hollensbe. Pee Wee got the title with a 7.01/206.89 beating Ira's 7.46/175. His next stop was at Napierville for another eight-car show. He lost early there. At Atco, for the Cars Magazine Championships, Wallace's off-pace 7.38/192.71 lost to Liberman's 6.91/225 in the first round. Another first-round loss came at Englishtown's Memorial Day Classic. There, eventual winner Al Segrini's 6.47/205 stopped his 6.83/217.39. The first-round losses continued at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals in the first week of June. He qualified #13 with a 6.57/223.32, but he smoked the tires to a 7.30 and lost to Jim Nicoll's 6.63. At the Division 1 race at Maple Grove, he ran 6.63 to qualify #3. This time, he made it past the first-round only to lose to Don Prudhomme's 6.59/204 with a 6.63/212 in the semifinals. He was back at Cayuga in July for its Gold Cup Championships race. There were thirteen FCs there, and all ran three races, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. Wallace soloed with a 7.30 on his first run. In his next race, he lost to Larry Fullerton, and in his third race, his quicker 6.97/196.07 lost to Joe Jacono's 7.08/209. His times were not quick enough to advance into the final. At the Connecticut Summer Funny Car Championships, Wallace's tire-smoking 8.57/191.48 lost to Kosty Ivanof's 6.39/194 in the opening round. While he didn't win or even make the final, Wallace set Low ET in qualifying #1 with a 6.59 at Maryland International for the fourth NHRA Division 1 race. That was pretty impressive, considering eventual winner Don Prudhomme could not match or beat his time. | Later sold to Willie Borsch. - Joe Moore |

Notes: Wallace was at Suffolk in April for an eight-car show. In the opening round, his 6.56/216.34 (Top Speed) beat Dodger Glenn's ailing 10.37/81 in the "Frantic Ford." In the semi-final, he set Low ET with his 6.52/214.79, beating Paul Smith's Monza. He faced Arne Swensen in the final, and despite slowing to "only" 7.27/198.23, he got the victory over Arne as he had to shut down with problems. Pee Wee qualified #10 at NHRA Columbus at 6.566/221.67. He won his round one match against a fouling Gordie Bonin, but he burned up the Monza on the run (8.885/91.55 to Bonin's 7.10/177). Wallace could not show for the second round. He brought a new Chevy Vega to Englishtown. |

Notes: Burned up his Monza at Columbus 1976. Wallace finished the year with this Vega. Wallace qualified #6 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals with a 6.449/230.17. An opening round 6.491/214.28 beat a troubled Rick Johnson who shut down early, but in round two he had difficulties and shut off to 12.05 in a loss to Gary Burgin's 6.29. Pee Wee qualified #6 at Sanaair at 6.517/213.77. He lost to Tom Prock in round one, 6.43/219 to 6.64/210.77. That was his final NHRA national event of the year. |
