Notes: Car featured injected 354 Chrysler with antiquated Hillborns. Car ran against blown cars as blown and injected nitro burners weren't separated at the time. car won at least one open altered event, beating out several blown cars. The car was sold in early 1969, and resurfaced with Chevy power under the team of Cox, Ford. Also I noted absence of an injected B/FA owned by Arizona racer Ty Pollack. Car featured the same look at Pure Hell, but was powered by bored, stroked injected 327. Beautiful show car that ran high 8's. Pollack took so long to build the car, that when it was finished, the NHRA had eliminated the class, leaving him to race only AHRA tracks.

Notes: Began as Melrose Missile AFX 2% at Pomona 1965 Winternationals driven by Tommy Grove. This was an AeroChem dipped body assembled at Amblewagon. Grove quit to take over a Ford driving job at that race. It was subsequently converted to AWB factory specs, and Melrose's Charlie DiBari hired Cecil Yother as his driver. The car toured nationally with full Plymouth factory sponsorship in 1965. it ran injected by the end of the season. Yother may have taken full or partial ownership when most factory sponsorships were canceled for 1966. The car's top was removed to create a roadster-style body in 1966 and toured nationally through that year. Disposition is believed destroyed, but this is unverified. ET 1965 (12/16/65 Drag News) MPH 1965 (12/65 Super Stock & Drag Illustrated) Cecil was at Maple Grove on August 22 for a best-of-five match against Bud Faubel's altered wheelbase Dodge. Yother only needed to make three runs to win as he beat Faubel three straight. Every run Cecil made was a new track record. He started with a 10.13/135.54. In the second race, he improved to 10.08/134.73, and Faubel fouled against him in the third race while Yother grabbed both ends of the record at 10.07/135.95.

Notes: Yother cut the top of his Belvedere and ran it as a roadster. Coincidentally, the first time out with the car came against another car that had the roof cut off, Ed Rachanski's Comet. The two roadsters were at Maple Grove on April 17 for a best of five match race. Ed won their first race with a 9.79/139 over Cecil's 9.98/144 (mph was a track record). In the second race, his 9.82/143 beat the Comet's slightly quicker 9.81/139 to even the score. Yother fouled in round three, but he set a track record 9.69 in beating Ed in the fourth race. The score was now at two each so the next run would decide the winner of the match. Unfortunately, Cecil fouled in the final race giving Rachanski the match race victory. The following week (April 23), he was at Lassiter Raceway where he lost three straight to Don Nicholson and his fiberglass Comet. The two had a rematch on May 7 at Cecil where "Dyno" again won two straight. Yother had run a best of 9.47/147.54 compared to Nicholson's best of 8.65/166. The Belvedere was too heavy to compete against the new wave of fiberglass cars. He was back at Cecil on May 22 for the Factory Showdown race. A first-round 9.40 beat Bud Faubel, but his round two 9.47 lost to Bill Lawton's 9.16. On May 29 he lost three straight against Gene Snow at Amarillo.

Notes: Cecil was at Irwindale on April 28 for an eight-car show. There was no qualifying as pairings were drawn from a hat. Dale Pulde fouled against him in the first round. He faced eventual winner Norm Cowdrey in the semifinal. Unfortunately, Yother had an oil filter explode on his run against Norm, and the car went into a fireball.
