Notes: Joe was well down the alternate list at NHRA Gainesville at 7.757/178.35. He also was a DNQ at NHRA Indy at 7.720/179.31. He was the eighteenth alternate at Maple Grove for the NHRA Keystone Nationals with a 7.726/179.06. Joe also failed to qualify at the NHRA Chief Nationals, where he was the eighteenth alternate again at 7.611/181.05. He did not race at the final two NHRA National events of the year. He did go to Desoto Speedway near the end of November for the Snowbird National Open. It was a sixteen-car field, and his 7.70/177.16 qualified #8. He beat John Brumley in the opening round, but the car broke on the burnout against Carlos Gonzales in round two. Where did he run 7.519/184.88?
