Notes: On Oct. 14 at Walston Metropolitan Airport in East St. Louis, Zieman won top eliminator and got a trophy for top speed. He ran his twin Ford-engined dragster in the Open Gas class, clocking 13 seconds at 102.13 mph for the class win. His top speed clocking was 115.23 mph. Employing two '51 Ford engines, he scored another victory at Walston Airport two weeks later on Oct. 28. He won trophies for fastest time with a car and the Open Gas class with a 13.5 second pass at 112.35 mph. It was the season's final race at Walston, put on by the Belleville Gear Jammers club.
