Notes: Bob went on to race on the salt flats for years.; It took a while to get things sorted out, but by October, the dual-engined dragster was running more consistently. At Fontana on Oct. 8, Brissette took top gas eliminator with 9.14 at 172.41 mph. The next day at San Fernando, they ran 9.42 at 169.81 mph. A week later, at Lions on Oct. 15, they got a top eliminator victory with a best time of 9.42. They clocked a speed of 177.51 mph, which was better than the existing Drag News 1320 record, but for some reason, even though Drag News reported it was a new record, it wasn't accepted. Notes: Tom was at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals where he qualified #12 with a 6.16/221.83. Another 6.16 at 224.66 in the opening round lost to Billy Williams' 6.15/225. He then went to Arizona for the NHRA Motorcraft Nationals. There the car was now using a Daytona body on the Victory chassis instead of the Cutlass the team had used at Pomona. He qualified #14 with a 6.20/222.33. But in the first round, the car broke, advancing eventual winner Pat Austin. Tom traveled to New Zealand in late in the year. The US visitor set a TA/FC record of 6.201/223.88 at STP Raceway on December 27/1992, that was still in effect as of January 2017! |
