Notes: Phil was so close to qualifying many times on the NHRA national event trail in 2001, but he could not track the elite barrier. He was the 2nd alternate at the NHRA Pomona Winters at 5.059/268.49. He was the second alternate at NHRA Phoenix as well at 4.969/302.69. Phil was the 6th alternate at Las Vegas Spring at 5.293/215.86. In July, he was the third alternate at the 50th Anniversary Pep Boys Nationals at Pomona at 5.046/243.37. In the return to Las Vegas, Phil was the second alternate at 5.194/256.75. Finally, on his return to Pomona for the World Finals, Phil finished as 3rd alternate at 4.980/309.27.
