Notes: Photo from 1991 US Nationals. Number three qualifier at the Gatornationals at 5.973/234.74. Chuck was at Beech Bend for the NHRA Division 3 race in August. Only four cars showed, so he shut off to 9.95/89.95 to qualify. In the first round, he set Low ET with a 6.21/225.32 that beat Gary Rettell, and in the final, he bagged Top Speed of the meet as well, with a winning 6.23/225.77 over Tim Wilkerson's 6.31/217. At Indianapolis for the NHRA US Nationals, his 6.07/230.76 qualified #1. He improved to 6.04/231.00 in the opening round to beat Billy Williams, and in round two, a 6.08/231.30 won a close race over Frank Manzo's 6.08/234. Unfortunately, he fouled away a 6.07/231.12 in the semifinals against Tony Bartone.

Notes: Chuck qualified #9 at Houston for the NHRA Supernationals with a 5.99/233.82. He fell off to 6.26/188.83 in the opening round and lost to Frank Manzo's 5.95/231. Shortly after that, he was at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. A 5.98/232.85 qualified #5. In the first round, his 6.29/216.86 beat Len Capone's 6.41/216. In round two, he broke against Manzo. Cheeseman was at the final NHRA Division 3 race held at Beech Bend at the end of August. His 6.18/229.97 qualified #4, and he improved to 6.05/231.92 in the opening round to defeat Terry Delaverne's 6.20/228. His opponent, Kim Fritts, shut off in the semi-final, and he advanced with a 6.11/230.00. He faced Tim Wilkerson in the final, and Tim had problems and shut down while Chuck ran 6.19/188.37 for the victory. Shortly after, he was at Indy for the NHRA U.S. Nationals, where his 5.97/234.31 qualified #1. He beat Terry Mullins and Wilkerson in the first two rounds before breaking a rod in the semi-final and losing to Randy Anderson. He was a Topeka in the first week of October for the NHRA Heartland Nationals. His 5.93/235.72 qualified #4. Gary Rettell fouled against him in the first round, and Cheeseman ran an easy 7.08/153.66 to advance. In round two, his 6.00/233.52 beat Danny Townsend's 6.08/229. But despite running 5.97/235.91 in the semi-final, he lost to eventual winner Pat Austin's 5.94/236.

Notes: Tom started his season at the AHRA Winternationals in Tucson. It was an eight-car field, and his 9.10/149 qualified #7. He lost to Frank Iaconio in the first round. At the NHRA Winternationals, he qualified 15th at 8.900/153.32, and his opening round 8.870/153.84 beat alternate Gary Hansen's 8.93/153. A second-round 9.000/146.57 lost to Iaconio's 8.72/154. He failed to qualify at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville. He was at Fremont on April 2 for the NHRA Division 7 race. An 8.81/152.54 qualified on the "bump" for the eight-car field. In the first round, his 8.84/153.32 lost to eventual winner Lee Hunter's 8.72/152. He also qualified on the "bump" at OCIR for the next NHRA Division 7 race held on May 13. Notes: Best Engineered car at the 1979 NHRA Winternationals, where it qualified 8th at 8.731/155.44. In the first round, something broke and the car oiled down the track to a 10.04 that lost to Roy Hill's 8.82. At the Bakersfield March Meet, Tom qualified with an 8.70 but once again lost in the opening round. Due to a trailer breakdown, the team failed to make it to Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. Tom attempted to qualify at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals, but his 8.839/154.63 best was good for the third alternate. At the NHRA World Finals at Ontario Motor Speedway, Chelbana's 8.83/152.02 qualified #12. In the opening round, his 8.90/152.28 lost to "Dyno Don" Nicholson's 8.78/153.
