Notes: A 6.33 failed to qualify at the NHRA Gatornationals. A quicker 6.17/238.09 at the NHRA Springnationals still failed to make the show, but it was good enough for first alternate. At the AHRA Gateway Nationals in June, he qualified fifth with a 6.30/230.18, but he lost to low qualifier (6.05) Don Prudhomme in the first round. A 6.13/238.72 qualified sixteenth at the NHRA Summernationals, but a first-round 6.11/241.28 fell to Ken Veney's 5.91/245.90. He again qualified fifth with a 6.29/230.76 at the next AHRA race, the Summernationals at Kansas City on August 1. A first-round 6.34/233 beat low qualifier (6.09) Mike Dunn's 6.58/163. In the semifinals, Tom McEwen's 6.08/237 beat Ron's 6.29/236.84. On August 21, he ran a 6.05/238.72 to qualify twelfth at the NHRA Northstar Nationals, but Mark Oswald beat him in the first round. He lost in the first round, again (to John Force) at the NHRA US Nationals, but he qualified well, running a 5.96/243.24 for the fourteenth spot. He ran at Bristol for the IHRA Fallnationals on September 25 and qualified third with a 5.90/225 and lasted until Oswald's 5.89 dropped him in the semifinals. Notes: Correnti qualified at Darlington for the IHRA Winternationals with a 6.05 at 242. Unfortunately, he lost in the first round. At Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals, his 5.97/246.98 qualified #11 and a tire-smoking 6.39/223.99 advanced over Rick Johnson, who was having his own problems in the "Hawaiian." But in round two, he sheared a fuel pump, advancing Don Prudhomme. On May 19, Alamo Dragway held the NHRA Division 4 race, which also featured eight-car Pro fields. A 6.59/223.88 qualified #6 and in the opening round, his 6.31/233.16 advanced when alternate Don Sosenka crossed the centerline. In the semifinals, John Martin smoked the tires against him, and Ron's 6.30/232.55 moved into the final. There he faced low qualifier, John Force. Force had been running 5.9s with ease here, and his final round 6.00/236 got the victory over Correnti's early shutoff pass of 6.45/191.48. The following week, he was at Baton Rouge for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. During qualifying, his engine failed, and the car became a fireball. He had made the field (#11) on an earlier 5.907/250.69 pass, so the crew worked hard to get the car fixed for eliminations. In the first round, opponent Billy Meyer crossed the centerline and was disqualified, so Ron moved on with a 6.57/243.90. In round two, his 5.96/242.06 took out John Collins' 6.06/221, but a semifinal 6.00/248.20 lost to eventual winner Jim Head's 5.93/245. Ron was at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals. He qualified #15 with a 6.03/246.84, but he fouled against Prudhomme in the first round. At the end of June, the team showed up in Canada for the NHRA Grandnationals with a new T-Bird body on the car.

Notes: The T-Bird debuted at the Grandnationals in Sanair at the end of June. Only fifteen cars showed, and Ron's 5.82/252.38 qualified #7. In the opening round, he struggled and shut off against Mark Oswald. The following week, he was in Milan, Michigan, for the IHRA Northern Nationals. The car was still unlettered and wearing black primer. He qualified #14 and ran an easy 5.97/249.30 in the first round to advance, while Kenny Bernstein could not show due to a fire during qualifying. In the second round, Ron lost to Tom McEwen. At the NHRA Summernationals, Correnti qualified #13 with a 5.81. He had problems in the first round against Dale Pulde and shut off. His next stop was at Bandimere for the NHRA Mile High Nationals. Ron qualified #13 with a 6.13/241.93 in the thin air. In the first round, he lost to Rick Johnson in the "Hawaiian." This car's career ended at Edgewater during the IHRA Summernationals in August. It caught fire during qualifying, and the T-Bird's body was destroyed. Ron was not hurt. IHRA number was 154. We previously listed 5.71 for this car, but his best NHRA national event times at the World Finals were 5.779/253.52. We are removing the 5.71 until we get confirmation.
