Notes: Donaldson qualified #4 at Southland Dragway on July 4 for a sixteen-car show with a 7.38. He beat Kerry MacKenroth, who shut off in round one, in Gene Mooneyham's car. In round two, he lost to Dave Chenevert. He was back at Southland the following week (July 13) for another sixteen-car show. A 7.42 qualified #3, but in the first round, he exploded a supercharger and lost to Steve Puneky. On October 19, George competed at the Louisiana State Championships at Baton Rouge. In the first round, Ed Kelly fouled against him, as did Henry Harrison in round two. He beat Gary Bailey with a 7.34 in the semifinals. He met Preston Davis in the final and fouled, giving Davis a 7.06 sprint to the win. Earlier, George had run 6.94 for Low ET. Did not run any NHRA national events this year.
