Notes: Randy raced at three events in 1999 with great success at the Joliet event. He also may have run the family funny car at some of these. We need to validate. Randy was the third alternate at the Winternationals at 5.730/257.33. He qualified #16 at Phoenix at 5.382/266.69 and lost to John Force in round one, 4.98/301 to 5.123/294.56. He qualified #5 at Joliet (definitely in the Gibbs car) at 4.986/306.53. In round one, he beat ron Capps, 5.014/295.34 to 5.18/282. Randy took out Del Worsham in round two, 4.988/286.07 to 5.39/203. He had a thrilling race with John Force in the semis, but he lost a close 5.003/298 to 5.006/292.84 decision to the champ. That was Randy's last national event of the year.

Notes: Shelly started on the NHRA tour late in July at the Mile-High Nationals in Denver. She qualified #8 with a 5.12/252.52, but in round one, her 5.18/264.93 lost to Tommy Johnson Jr's 5.15/271. At the next NHRA event, the California Nationals at Sonoma, Shelly ran her first-ever four-second time, a 4.93 at 297.32 that qualified her #5 in the field. She lost to Doug Herbert in the first round when he got off the line first, and his 5.06/286 held off her quicker 5.02/291.16. ET and speed confirmed by Jim Hawkins' DragStats.

Notes: ET and speed confirmed by Jim Hawkins' DragStats. | Shelly qualified on the "bump" at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals with a 5.01/290.69. In the first round she fouled and shut off to a 5.40/212 that lost to Cory McClenathan's 4.82/295. She was first alternate with a 5.13/266.58 at the next NHRA race, the Arizona Nationals. At Houston, a career-best 4.87/294.11 qualified #9 for the NHRA Supernationals. In the first round both Shelly and Kenny Bernstein ran 4.91 (Anderson at 291.45), but Kenny got the win. Gainesville was the next stop for the NHRA tour. Shelly qualified #5 with a 4.89/290.97, but a first-round 4.98/281.07 lost to Mike Dunn. She did not compete at the NHRA Winston Invitational, but was back on the tour for the Southern Nationals at Atlanta. Shelly qualified #10 with a 4.96/283.91. In the first round both she and Mike Brotherton smoked the tires. Anderson's 7.18/119.85 lost to Mike's 6.30/220. At the sixth race of the year, the NHRA Mid-South Nationals, a 4.98/283.19 qualified #11. She lost to McClenathan in the first round. The seventh race of the season was the Mopar Parts Nationals at Englishtown. Shelly qualified #9 with a 4.91/279.15. In the first round she ran another strong 4.97/274.89, but Rance McDaniel beat her with a 4.93/296. Mid-June was the NHRA make its annual stop at National Trail for the Springnationals. A 5.04/278.81 qualified #12. She stepped up to a 4.99/279.76 in the first round, but it wasn't enough to get around Bernstein's 4.92/294. Anderson qualified #5 at the NHRA Western Nationals with a 4.99/277.09. In the first round she took a little nap on the line and Don Prudhomme's 5.20/260 beat her quicker 5.15/269.29. Finally, at the tenth race of the season, the NHRA Mile High Nationals at Denver on July 25. She got her first-round win on the year and the winning time was a 10.64/72.80. Shelly shut off after watching Bernstein foul in the other lane against her. In qualifying, she had run 5.33/255.53 for the #14 spot in the show. In the second round, Shelly ran her best time of the day, a 5.31 at 258.76, but she lost to Doug Herbert's 5.24/273. The month of August didn't go so well when her best of 5.13/273.97 failed to qualify (first alternate) for the NHRA Autolite Nationals at Sonoma. The following week (August 8), she failed to qualify at Seattle for the NHRA Northwest Nationals with a 5.12/279.15 best (third alternate). On August 22, Anderson debuted a new Uyehara built car at Brainerd for the NHRA Champion Auto Stores Nationals. It didn't help her in qualifying as her 5.63/193.54 failed to make the show. There were 17 cars there and she was, unfortunately, the slowest. Shelly hoped to turn things around at the start of September. She showed at Indianapolis for the US Nationals and attempted to make the field. But once again she failed to get in; a best of 5.05/277.60 was good for the fourth alternate. Her over as crew chief at Maple Grove for the NHRA Keystone Nationals and it must have helped as her 4.98/280.54 qualified #13. She picked up to a 4.89/289.48 to beat Tommy Johnson Jr's 4.91/287 in the first round. She made it past the second round for the first time this year with a 5.67/169.90 when Pat Austin was shut off on the line with a fuel leak. In the semifinals, a 4.95/285.53 advanced her into the finals over a tire-smoking Eddie Hill. In the final, she ran Mike Dunn in Darrell Gwynn's car. It was a close race with her 4.98/281.42 prevailing over Dunn's 4.99/278. It was Shelly's first NHRA National event win.

Notes: Shelly was impressive at the season-opening NHRA Winternationals. She qualified #3 with a 4.79/297.91 and went on to win the race. Anderson had a bit of luck along the way as in the first round, both she and Clayton Harris smoked the tires with her 6.43/185.03 getting the win. In round two, Shelly's 4.87/293.06 beat Mike Brotherton's 5.03/285, and another tire-smoking 6.53/146.60 advanced in the semifinals when Pat Austin lost a blower. In the final, she met Top Fuel veteRance McDaniel and her 5.46/178.74 got the win over Rance's 7.42/107. At NHRA's second event, the Quality Care Nationals at Arizona, she continued to qualify well, running 4.81/292.77 for the #4 spot in the field. Unfortunately, a 4.98/244.83 in the first round, loss to Mike Dunn's 4.86/277 in Darrell Gwynn's car. The next race was at Houston for the NHRA Slick 50 Nationals. A 4.79/292.30 qualified #6, and she lasted until the second round, where she crossed the centerline while running Scott Kalitta. Shelly was #6 again at the NHRA Gatornationals, where a 4.88/290.88 got her the spot. Anderson won an excellent first-round race against Eddie Hill, where his 4.92/293 lost to her 4.89/291.16. In round two, her tires broke loose, and she shut off to 9.91/83.54 that lost to Bobby Baldwin. Keith Black, BAE combination was banned after the 1994 season. (We need confirmation).
