Notes: Hill was at Epping in July for an eight-car show. He qualified on the bump with a 7.86/176. While that might seem slow, Raymond Beadle, the "Frantic Ford," and the "Alabamian" all failed to better his time. In the opening round of eliminations, he improved to 7.01/190, but it wasn't enough to beat "Jungle Jim" Liberman's 6.79/175. On July 25, he competed at the All-American Series race at Maple Grove. His off-pace 7.96 in the first round, lost to Al Segrini's 6.57. Times and info from National Dragster, 8/23/74.

Notes: Pete was at Atco in May for the CARS Magazine Championships. It was an eight-car show, and in the opening round, his 6.82/209.30 beat "Jungle Jim" Liberman's off-pace 7.56/197. But in the semifinals, he lost an engine on the line, giving opponent Tommy Ivo a solo into the final. Hill was at Lebanon Valley in July for the Summer Funny Car Championships. It was an eight-car show that had all the cars run three rounds of racing, and the two Low ET cars would then meet in the final. Pete had problems on his first run, shutting down to 12.09 in a loss to Ivo's 7.28. In his second race, the car got crossed-up, and his 8.02/156.79 lost to Bruce Larson's 6.76/205. He made his best pass on his third run, a 6.77/175.43, but it wasn't enough to beat Tom McEwen's 6.41. In August, Hill was at Empire Dragway for its Gold Cup Championships. It was an eight-car field, and in the first round, he fouled against George Johnson.

Notes: Jacono won the Cecil National Open on April 21. His opponent, Bob Mayer, broke in the final, and Jacono ran 6.71/172.74 for the victory. Shortly after that (May 4), he competed at York US 30 for its Funny Car Nationals. He failed to reach the finals there. He was at Englishtown for the NHRA Division One opener the following day. Unfortunately, he fouled against Bob Lagana in the first round. Joe was at Maple Grove in May for the Spring All-Pro Championships. It was an eight-car show, and in round one, his 6.77/177.51 beat Al Bergler. In the semifinal, he defeated "Jungle Jim" Liberman's 6.74 with a 6.71. But he had to face JJ again in the final as Bob Palmer had won his semifinal race but broke and could not run. Jim returned on the "break rule," and in the final, his 6.61/209 beat Jacono's 6.66/211.76.

Notes: Arguably Joe's biggest win came at the 75 NHRA National Open at Cecil County over Bill Leavitt. Joe was at Atco on May 25 for the CARS Magazine Meet. In the first round, his 7.15/213.77 lost to Bill Leavitt's 7.12/204. He was at Connecticut in July for the Summer Funny Car Championships, but his 6.91/193.96 lost to eventual winner Leavitt’s 6.63/210 in the opening round.

Notes: Jimmy failed to qualify at the NHRA Gatornationals. New England held a Funny Car show in April, and Jimmy wasn't running too well, hitting a best of 7.15/199 and failing to reach the finals. Shortly after, he was at Maple Grove for its Spring Funny Car Championships. He made it into the final against Dodger Glenn, who was driving the "Frantic Ford," The two had one of the slowest Funny Car finals ever. King lost a clutch and ran 12.97 to lose, while Glenn broke a rear end and idled down the track at 12.52 for the victory. Early in May, he was at York US 30 for the Funny Car Nationals, but he lost to Glenn in the opening round. His next stop was at Lebanon Valley for the Ridgerunner Funny Car Classic. A first-round 7.04/206.89 advanced when his opponent Jimmy Byrd crashed, but in the semifinals, his off-pace 7.29 lost to the race's eventual winner Tommy Grove, at 6.99. Also, in May, he was in Connecticut for its Memorial Day Championships. All eight cars were to run two rounds of racing. Jimmy set Low ET and Top Speed in the first round, with a 6.76/210.77 over a crossed-up Larry Fullerton in the "Trojan Horse." In the second round, he almost repeated those numbers with his 6.77/210.77 beating Arne Swensen's 6.86/183.

Notes: Gordon qualified #11 with a 6.557/204.68 at the NHRA Gatornationals, but he did not show against Gary Burgin in the first round. Amazingly, he qualified identically at NHRA Columbus, where another 6.557 (at 202.70) claimed the #11 spot. Again, Gordon did not run in the first round, and Bob Pickett took his spot against #3 qualifier Gordie Bonin. Those were Gordon's two national event appearances in 1975. Shortly after the Springnationals, he was at Englishtown for a Coca-Cola Cavalcade race. His 7.07/196.07 beat Paul Radici's 7.54/162 in the opening round, but his ET did not advance him into the semifinal. In July, Mineo was at Atco for another Coke race. His first-round 7.06/198 fell to Gary Bolger's 6.74/197, but his ET was good enough to advance him to the final four. Unfortunately, his car broke, so Fred Goeske took his place in the semifinal. Gordon ran really well at Portland for the 32 car Coca-Cola Funny Car Championships. All cars were to make three runs, with the two Low ET cars meeting in the final. Mineo won all three of his races. First running 6.74 to beat Larry Van Zandt, then 6.71 over Al Bergler, and finally, a 6.74 over Goeske. His ET's were not strong enough to advance to the final, but it was a strong showing. He was in Seattle in August for the Seafair Funny Car Championships. Once again, the cars were to make three runs, with the two Low ET cars advancing to the final. Mineo opened eliminations with a 6.61/193.65 that beat Dick Bourgeois' off-pace 8.17/195. In his second race, he stopped Goeske with a 6.68/188.47. On his third run, his 6.84 lost to Lindamood's 6.71. His next appearance was at Fremont for the Coca-Cola Cavalcade race. He had some bad luck there as his Vega broke against Russell Long in the first round. I saw Gordon win the Coke Cavalcade race at Thompson, Ohio, over Russell Long in the Sundance Monza. Pretty sure it was 1975, but he still had the 72 Vega nose on the car. - BP

Notes: Mike qualified for the AHRA Winternationals held at Beeline Dragway near the end of January. But he failed to stay around for eliminations. Mike was at OCIR in mid-March for the AHRA Grand American West race. It was a sixteen-car field, and his 6.87 qualified #9. Unfortunately, that set up a first-round meeting with low qualifier Tom McEwen. The "Mongoose" beat him and went on to win the race. Also, a rumored 6.21 at 221 clocking at US 30 in 1975.

Notes: Fullerton was one of the first to run the Mustang II body in the Funny Car competition. He had it running in late March for the IHRA Southern Nationals. Larry qualified #6 in the eight-car field, but he lost to Kenny Safford in the "Mr. Norm" car in the first round. He did better at Suffolk for the NHRA Division 2 race in April. He reached the final by running 7.54/134.76 in the first round, and in the semifinals, he soloed to a shut-off when Paul Smith had problems in the "Fireball Vega" and lost fire on the line. In the final, he faced Harry Hudson. Once again, he had traction problems, and the "Trojan Horse's" 7.65/121.60 lost to Hudson's 6.61/206. He qualified on the "bump" for the sixteen-car field at Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships, but he lost early. Larry then went out and won the Lebanon Valley Funny Car race in May. A 6.61 in the first round, beat Bobby Lagana's 6.79, while a semifinal 6.57 stopped Al Hanna's 6.95 in the "Eastern Raider.” In the final, he was supposed to face Kosty Ivanof, but Kosty had blown his engine while winning his semifinal race. Larry could solo for the victory, but Joe Jacono offered to run in the final against him just for the show. Joe outran Larry in the final with a 6.84/209 to Fullerton's 6.96/212, but Larry still got the victory. On June 9th, he was at Columbus for the NHRA Springnationals, where his 6.61/200.89 qualified #8. The car came to the line ailing in the first round, and lost to John Schumacher. He had a bad outing on July 3 at Englishtown for its Funny Car Spectacular Race. Larry had fouled in the first round, against Tommy Grove driving the Barry Setzer car. He later came back out for a consolation race against Bill Leavitt. Something let go at the top end of the track, and the Mustang went up in flames. Fullerton got it stopped, and he was OK, but the car was burnt pretty bad. It didn't take long to return to running as he was back at Englishtown on July 14 for the NHRA Summernationals. A 6.71 qualified #15, and in the first round, he clicked it off against Billy Meyer when he got out of shape. He was at York US 30 for the Super Stock Magazine Nationals, where he once again had problems in the first round, and shut off. This time his 10.00 lost to Leavitt's 6.93.
