Notes: Qualified 9th at the IHRA Winter Nationals in Lakeland, FL with a 6.88. He was the quickest front engine car in the field. In the first round he improved to a 6.78 214.79 but lost to number 1 qualifier Clayton Harris. When Dick McFarland experienced a clutch explosion beating J.L. Simpson, he was unable to return for round two, but neither was J.L. Al was the quickest first round loser so he was reinserted into the field in a rematch with Harris. He got out of shape and shut off losing to Harris 2 rounds in a row. |
