The week following on Feb. 22, he equaled his mark with a duplicate 123.22 mph run. On Mar. 8, he set a new record at Pomona with 123.90 mph. He also took top eliminator. On Mar. 15, he upped the class record at Pomona again with 126.60 mph. He also garnered a top eliminator victory again. Photo: "Traditional images that need no explanation," p. 158, in Jalopy Journal, The H.A.M.B. -- MB - Bob Gorman's Bantam bodied competition coupe. He had at least three different noses for the car, depending on where he raced it. It has a flathead in it here, though he later replaced it with a Studebaker V-8. Info from David Sorenson. - JM |
