Notes: Car debuted late 1971 and was run at the NHRA Supernationals. Larkin was back and forth to Don Long’s shop for 39 weeks while the car took shape on the jig. Long didn’t want to out the canards on the car but Larkin convinced him, though he felt later they should have been laid back more. The tail was Long’s idea. This was the first rear engine car he built, the second being the Cerny & Moody car, which only took two weeks. Car ran poorly at OMS (7.03/163), darting around for unknown reasons, but once it made a full pass, Larkin loved it. No oil, no fumes, and he could see everything. Car later ran 6.79/212 at OCIR and 6.69 at Lions. JM |
