Notes: T-boned Frank Mancuso's funny car when Frank crossed the center line at Englishtown on July 30/1978. Mike says: The car was junk. Everything was tweaked, bent, or broken. It even destroyed the engine. During the tumbling and rolling over, the chute got sucked into the intake and ruined all the compressor blades. A funny side note: years later, while I was jet parts junking in an Oklahoma jet junk yard, I saw the engine with that chute still sticking out of the intake. After the crash, I built my streamliner and raced that for several years. |
