Notes: AKA 240 Gordie. At the NHRA Winternationals, Bonin set Top Speed in qualifying with a 6.18/245.23 that placed him in thirteenth on the grid. It wouldn't be fair not to mention that the front end was up on that pass, and he drove it through to qualify. Few drivers would have been able to save that run. In the first round, he beat Don Prudhomme with a 6.27/242.58 but failed to get the car stopped and drove the car into the catch net. In round two, he lost to Kosty Ivanof. At the Gatornationals, he qualified #15, and in the first round, he crossed the centerline and lost to Dale Pulde. He won the NHRA Division race at Beeline. In the final, he beat Bob Pickett's 6.42/227 with a 6.22 (Low ET) at 237.46. He also ran 6.18/231 at the US Nationals but failed to qualify on a 6.10 bump! |
