Notes: Jerry started his season at Gainesville, where he was the sixth alternate at 7.10/131. He ran 5.99/237.46 in a round at IHRA Bristol, but we need qualifying times. Jerry attempted to qualify at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals, but he was the first alternate with the best time of 6.009 seconds at 222.22 mph. He failed to qualify at the NHRA US Nationals (fifth alternate at 6.033/242.58) and at the NHRA Keystone Nationals, where the best he could get the car to run down the track was 16.46/31.80. He continued to have problems at Englishtown for the US All-Pro Funny Car Championships, losing to Bruce Larson's 5.85 in the first round, when he shut off to 11.21/75.50. Caminito later came back out in a consolation race and ran 6.10/221.13. | Can't remember where he ran the 5.86/250 numbers, specifically, only that it was listed in a "United Drag Racer" paper we picked up from Della Woods' trailer at Martin that year. - Curt Swartz |
