Notes: Budds Creek Md. 4/13/96: John Bartunek of Pearl River, NY, overcame a horsepower deficit with driving skills to win the Northeast Pro Shootout Association portion of the show. The NPSA featured a 14-car field of Top Sportsman and Pro Stock cars, all in outlaw trim. Bartunek defeated points leader Marcello Mastroianni in the final round by reacting first at the green light, then driving his 1994 Chevy Lumina to a 7.29 second, 191.28 mph win over the quicker car's 7.15 second, 196.72 mph run. Mastroianni recorded the event's best performances in his 1991 Pontiac Trans Am-the Upper Brooke, NY, racer ran 6.92 seconds at 198.32 mph in a semifinal round win. - BP | Set Englishtown track records at 6.851/202.42 in March 1996. - Lewis Bloom |
