Notes: Courtie was at Irwindale in March for the Coca-Cola Funny Car Championships. It was a 32-car field, and in the opening round of eliminations, his 6.92 lost to Jim Dunn's 6.80. Jeff was in Seattle for the Seafair Funny Car Championships in August. It was a 32-car field that was to have all cars run three rounds, with the two lowest ET cars meeting in the final. Courtie won his first race with a 7.01/193 when Raymond Beadle, driving the "Blue Max," broke a rear end. In his next race, both he and Jim Dunn overpowered the track and smoked the tires. Jeff came out on top with an 8.35. The third round didn't come off as the track had an 11:00 pm curfew. Courtie's ETs were not low enough to advance to the final. |
