Notes: The car was purchased from the Marriott Bros. Janke was the third alternate at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals with an 8.612/155.92. He was at Green Valley Raceway on April 5 for the NHRA Western Regional opener. An 8.51/157.06 qualified #4 in the eight-car field. He improved slightly in the opening round of eliminations to an 8.50/157.61 to beat Harry Hronas' 8.88/150. Janke lost to the eventual winner Bob Glidden in the semifinal. Janke also went to Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. It was another eight-car show, and it took an 8.60 to get in. Unfortunately, Jerry's best of 8.754 failed to make the cut. That was the team's last NHRA national event of the year. |
