Notes: This car hauled. While the team did not race at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, they were at Green Valley on February 20 for the NHRA Division 4 opener. He not only won, but he also set Low ET and Top Speed. Domingue swept the race: #1 Qualifier, Low ET at 6.46, and a win over Bubba Sewell, 6.49 at 211.76 to 6.49 at 209.30. They then went to Gainesville or the NHRA Gatornationals, where Buddy qualified #5 with a 6.50/216.34. In the opening round, he picked up to a 6.48/215.31 to beat Donna McCarthy's 6.56/206. In round two, he lost to Mike Kosky. The following week (March 20), Domingue reset the NHRA record at State Capitol Dragway, where his 6.40 at a crazy speed of 217.39 qualified #1 for the second NHRA Division 4 race. He fouled away a great 6.45/217.91 (Top Speed, of course) in the first round against Ron Umbach. The 6.40 at 217.39 set both ends of the national record. He also ran well at the third NHRA Division 4 race held back at Green Valley. While he didn't reach the final, he set Low ET and Top Speed at 6.44/213.77. In mid-April, he was in Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals. This was another eight-car field, and his 6.47/211.76 qualified #3. Unfortunately, he fouled away a 6.62 in the first round against Don Woosley. Former Smart-Logan machine. Photo from the 1983 WWCS race at Green Valley.
