Notes: 1964 Hemi Dodge factory S/S - A/FX converted in late 1964 to a fully adjustable wheelbase using all Chrysler parts. This was a project Landy worked with the factory on, and it was converted after the 1964 Nationals to a moveable Dodge van front axle that was legal in AHRA. The rear axle could also be adjusted. Landy drove this car through the end of that season. It still exists, and owner Pete Haldiman has made a case that it could be considered the first 'altered wheelbase' funny car. Similar changes were made to a Plymouth by Bill Flynn of New England, though Landy's was the most substantial and was documented in Hot Rod magazine. |
