Notes: Brian qualified #1 at Baton Rouge for the sixteen-car field for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. His 6.67/203.16 got the spot. In the opening round, he improved to 6.60/202.70 in the opening round to defeat Don Haywood's 6.70/204. A second-round 6.66/202.24 beat Billy Williams, who had problems and shut down. But in the semifinals, it was Brian who had issues, and eventual winner A.J. Seruntine beat his 7.49/141.28.
