He would face #5 Qualifier Ron Scott in Round 1, where Bell wins with a 6.48/217.91 to Scott's losing 6.65/213.27. Bell faced #3 Qualifier Frank Manzo in the semis, where Bell's 6.40/221.67 was no match for the Eventual winner Manzo's 6.31/220.58. | Dick set Low ET in qualifying #1 with a 6.36/218.97 at the third NHRA Division 1 race at Maple Grove.
