Notes: Vern won the AHRA Gateway Nationals at St. Louis on June 6. He ran 6.93 and 6.81/205.02 to reach the finals, where he faced Bud Williams. Bud had run a best of 6.73 in eliminations, so he was tough, but an off-pace 7.22/152 in the final finished runner-up to Moats' 6.80/205.95.
