Notes: In an August 6 matchrace at Fontana, Shroeder turned times of 10.39-133.33, 10.59-130-62, and 10.53-131.38 (per 8-12-66 Drag World). We previously reported uncredited/undated times of 9.43-150. -- RT | Beautiful emerald green steel-bodied 2450-pound car with glass front bumper. Near-stock 427 Chev with Hilborn injectors squirting 40-60 nitro, alky mix, dyno'd at 750 hp. Four-speed Muncie trans dumped to Ford 9" rear. Featured in 10-66 Drag Strip and 12/66 Pop Hot Rodding. Schroeder carved out a later career in exhibition wheelstanders, and was touring with a jet-powered Ford Focus station wagon when he was diagnosed with melanoma. He passed away shortly afterward, in mid-2007. |
