Notes: The former Don Gay "Infinity" GTO. Stokes & Marinan stretched the front end and replaced the Pontiac mill with an injected late hemi. The car was a popular fixture on the Upper Midwest funny car circuit. The complete car less engine/trans could be had for $2,200 or best offer per classified "for sale" ad in a March 8/1969 issue of Drag News. Best times of 8.5/163.0 were as cited in the ad; "Infinity" lineage confirmed by owner Stokes there as well. Original car is said in online forums to have been located, with a planned restoration to the original Don Gay configuration. - RT |
