Notes: Dale Pulde sure drove for a lot of teams in '75. Near the end of July, he jumped behind the wheel of the "Plueger and Gyger" Mustang. His first event with the car was at the 32-car Coca-Cola Funny Car Championships at Portland. Considering it was his first time out with the car, he did great. A first-round 6.55 beat the car that he would soon be driving at the Nationals, Larry Christopherson's "Arizona Wildcat" Vega at 6.61. In his second race, Dale’s 6.54/207 beat Paul Radici. His times were not good enough to reach the final, but he was familiarizing himself with the ride. His second time out with the car came on July 30 at the Funny Car Spectacular in Edmonton, Alberta. He suffered a first-round loss to Kenny Goodell, but then ran 6.91/188 in his second race to beat Terry Capp. An off-pace 7.19 in his third race lost to John Collins' 6.97 in Tom McEwen's second car. The following week found the team at Seattle for the Seafair Funny Car Championships. It was a big 32-car show with all cars to run three races and the two Low ET cars advancing to the final. Pulde beat Don Rae in the first round, with a 6.71/201 and in the second round, he lost to Twig Zeigler. He was not able to race his third round as the track had a 11:00 pm curfew. His times were not good enough to advance into the final. |
