Notes: While still partners and running the "Eastern Raider" Pinto in 1974, Al Hanna and Joe Mundet commissioned Rollie Lindblad to build them a new Mustang II as a replacement for the old car. The new Mustang II made its debut in October at the 1974 NHRA Supernationals/World Finals at Ontario Motor Speedway with Al Hanna driving. In late '74 or early '75, there was a split in the partnership when Joe Mundet decided to move to California, and Al Hanna returned to Connecticut. Joe kept the new car and hired Dale Pulde as his driver, while Al continued campaigning the old Pinto; both cars kept the name "Eastern Raider." So, at the beginning of 1975, there were two "Eastern Raiders": the Connecticut-based Pinto and the California-based Mustang II. Dale Pulde was successful early in '75 with the western "Eastern Raider" Mustang II. After not qualifying at the NHRA Winternationals (first alternate at 6.504/211.76), he went on to win the Bakersfield March Meet. He qualified fourth at 6.39/208.81 and ran ETs of 6.63, 6.46, and 6.71 before beating Don Prudhomme in the final. Dale used a 6.53/196.63 to defeat Don's off pace 7.17/141.28. | Dale finished second in 1975 IHRA points to Raymond Beadle. But he drove Larry Christopherson's Arixona Wildcat Vega for at least some of those races. Dale was the fifth alternate at NHRA Columbus (no times available), but we need to confirm which car. |
