Notes: Baca qualified #19 at the NHRA Winternationals with a 7.14/205.01. He fouled in the first round, against Leroy Goldstein. On October 19, Baca qualified #1 with a 6.74 at the Fremont Fallnationals. He ran a first-round 6.77/205.92 over Jerry Ruth and in the semifinals, a 6.84 advanced over James Warren, who broke a rear end. In the final, he faced Don Prudhomme. Unfortunately, his car failed to fire. It was sad because Prudhomme put a rod through the side of his block and could only coax a 20.94 out of it. |
