Notes: Gary Beck won the first national event of his career by defeating Jerry Ruth in the finals of the 1972 NHRA Nationals. Gary had only held a top fuel license for less than a month when he won Indy! Qualified at Indy 1972 with a 6.315/225.00. Also ran 6.115 at Supernationals and 6.24 at Lions Last Drag Race. Ran 6.119 at Indy US Nationals 72, 6.37 at Seattle. He had the best speed from Ontario at 238.72, but he also hit 238.09 in round one.
