Notes: Ran 7.58 (qualified #3) at AHRA Winters at Beeline Arizona 1965. AKA the Blue Car. Drag Sport Illustrated in a 1965 wrap up said this car was the scourge of the area. | Larry was driving this car at Lions for an eight-car show on January 16. The small 331 Hemi dominated the race over the bigger 392 powered cars. Faust qualified #1 with a 7.61/199.10 then set Low ET and Top Speed in a first-round victory over John Wilson with a 7.58/203.16. He had an easy run in the semifinals when Mike Sorokin fouled in the "Surfers" entry. Larry won the event, running a 7.63/201.78 in the final. As mentioned, he qualified #3 at Beeline for the AHRA Winternationals, but a first-round 7.98/200.88 lost to Danny Ongais' 7.60/200. He beat Tom McEwen to take Top Eliminator on the second day of the 2-day Summer Drag Racing Championships at Fontana on Aug. 22, 1965, with a 7.78, 204.54 clocking. He qualified in sixth place at the 1965 Hot Rod Magazine Championships at Riverside with a 7.68, 204.54 clocking. Photo: '65 Hot Rod Magazine Championships - MB |
