Notes: Ran 7.76 at Lions UDRA Winter Championships. Ran 7.93 at Irwindale Dragway AHRA Winternationals. | Faust started the '66 season at a Jackpot Circuit race at Bakersfield on January 2. His Chrysler came up ailing in the first round, and he lost to Dave McKenzie. He was at Bakersfield for the March Meet, where he ran on Saturday, March 5, in the 64-car runoff. He won his first-round race with a 7.80 when Jerry Vargas fouled. In round two, he advanced with a 7.67/200.00 when Tommy Ivo shut off. In round three, his opponent fouled, so he eased to an 8.44/177.51 for the win. He an as fast as 201.78 at the March Meet. Larry was at an eight-car show at Lions on April 18. He qualified #7 with a 7.83/191.88. He lost to Connie Swingle's 7.49/199 in the first round, with a 7.92/198.22. He was back at Lions for another eight-car show on April 23 and qualified #3 with a 7.69/198.66. A first-round 7.71/185.94 beat Jim Boyd was in the second round against Dave Beebe the car was only running on six cylinders, and Larry's 11.17/82.49 lost to Dave's 7.53/208. Lions held a sixteen-car show on May 14, and Larry again ran well. A 7.64 qualified #2, and in the first round, his 8.14/182 beat John Mulligan's shut-off 8.08/142. Unfortunately, Larry broke some parts in his win, and Mulligan was reinstated when he couldn't make it back for round two. |
