Notes: Also 7.69/203.16 at Lions 2/01/66 and 7.65 at Lions UDRA Winter Championships. Ron started the year in Ted Gotelli's car, but at the AHRA Winternationals on February 13, he was driving for Sid. He lost to Bobby Hightower in the first round. At the NHRA Winternats on February 20, he did better, qualifying fifth with a 7.66 and lasting until round three, where Jim Dunn's 7.68/202 put him out. At Lions for the UDRA Winternats, a 7.69/203.16 qualified #12, but he failed to make the finals. Ron won on April 17 at Santa Maria, but on April 24 for Pomona's Pro Circuit race, he fouled in the first round, against Dave Beebe. He lost again in the first round, on July 10 at Santa Maria, when he shut off with engine problems against Ray Ayres. - Ron Howard | Best NHRA national event times of 7.606/204.53 at NHRA Bristol on 6/05/66. |
