Notes: The second of three top fuel cars that Prudhomme ran in 1971, this car had a 220-inch John Buttera chassis, a Keith Black Hemi, and a body designed & built by Quinn Epperly and Nye Frank. The car also had Kirby paint and Kelly lettering. It won Best Engineered at the 1971 NHRA Springnationals, but proved too heavy to be competitive. Don ran the car with the wedge body through the summer, but removed the heavy body work by Indy and installed a wing. The highlight for this car came when it lost the then-quickest side-by-side race in drag racing history. The race took place at OCIR during the PDA Championships in July. Don ran 6.41/234.98, losing to Rick Ramsey's 6.41/229.50. Qualified at Indy at 6.433. Don replaced this car in November when he took delivery of the 1190 lb. Kent Fuller built "Yellow Feather."
