Notes: After driving for Fred Goeske and Stone, Woods & Cook in the past, Cliff Brown went on his own in '71 with this Mustang. Cliff worked in Romeo Palamides' shop, so of course, the 120" wheelbase chassis came out of that shop. Cliff chose a Halibrand Quick Change rear end, and early in the season, his gears of choice were 4.52. The engine was a stock-stroke 426 Hemi with a stock-balanced, clearanced crank. He used M/T rods and pistons. Gary Dyer built the blower, which was 33% overdriven. Brown used a high-gear, only three-disc Crower Glide unit with a Lenco reverser. The September. '71 issue of SS/FC magazine claimed that the car had run some 6.80s at over 210. |
