Notes: Baca was at the NHRA Division 7 race in Palmdale in September. It was a sixteen-car field, and he qualified #4 with a 6.44/214.14. He beat Greg Daebelliehn in the first round, and in round two, his 6.31/217.88 stopped Billy Williams' 6.51/214. Another 6.31 at 217.62 in the semifinals beat a tire-smoking Lou Gasparelli and moved him into the final against Brad Anderson. "Bad Brad" had been running 6.2s all day, and in the final, he set Low ET with a 6.21/220 win over David's 6.74/154.85. He was at Firebird Raceway in mid-October for the NHRA Fallnationals. His 6.17/224.71 qualified #5. In the opening round, his 6.22/219.45 stopped Jim Epler at 6.27/223. But in the second round, his 6.24/214.03 lost to Pat Austin's 6.07/230.
