Notes: Stan's 6.47/214.79 qualified second to Vern Moats' 6.37/217 at Bandimere in June for the NHRA Division 5 race. His 6.56/213.92 beat George Southern's 6.84/202 in the opening round, and a 6.53/213.52 in the semi-final defeated Corky East's late 6.48/214. He faced Moats in the final, and the car broke, giving Vern a solo 6.39/217 for the victory. He was at the Nebraska Motorplex for the Division 5 race in mid-August. Once again, he qualified second to Moats; this time, his 6.31/220.85 followed Vern's 6.25/221. These two would also both work their way into the final again. Stan started by running 6.33/219.70 over Kurt Prososki's 6.62/210. In the semi-final, his 6.57/193.32 beat Charles Morrison. But as seen by the speed on that run, he hurt the engine and could not make the final against Moats, and Moats soloed for another victory. The Drag Racing List, Fall 1990, Volume 5, Number 4, listed a 6.314. Was that the August D5 Scribner number? |
