Notes: Prock started his '73 season at the Irwindale Grand Premiere race. Forty cars were attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field, and his 6.52 got the #8 spot. An opening round 6.61/212.26 beat Denver Schutz's 6.81, and he improved to 6.42/222.22 in round two to defeat Dennis Baca. He continued to get stronger in the semifinals, where his 6.38/222.22 beat James Warren's 6.89/174. He went up against Don Moody, and once again, he stunned the fans by running 6.55/215.82 to win the event over Moody's off-pace 7.64. He showed that it was no fluke by qualifying #3 at OCIR's second All-Pro race with a 6.32. But in the first round, his 6.48/221.13 lost to Bob Noice's 6.36/208. Prock was at Beeline Dragway in Arizona for the AHRA Winternationals. He qualified #10 in the 32-car show with a 6.36/220.04. Paul Longenecker failed to show for his first-round race against Frank, so he soloed with a 6.40/212.40. Unfortunately, the car broke in round two in his match against eventual winner Don Garlits. |
