Notes: Ran Coca-Cola Circuit. The car served as one of three cars being campaigned at the time, including a Vette and Javelin. The car was actually Fred Goeske's '69 Road Runner with a Challenger body mounted for Coke Circuit events. Eldridge was killed that Winter in Hawaii while piloting a blown Anglia. 120" Ron Scrima (Exhibition Engineering) chassis, B&M Torqueflite. Super Stock September 1970, claimed this car ran a stock-size 426 Hemi and ran a best of 7.28/202.70. |

Notes: Bob's little known funny car. | The story, per Steve Reyes, is that this was formerly Don and Roy Gay’s car. Steve’s words: “After the death of his brother Roy, Don Gay lost interest in funny car racing. He held one heck of a fire sale which saw their Firebird funny car end up with wheel-stand king Bob Riggle. So how did the car return to racing? Dale Emery, Dee Gant and Waterbed Fred Miller were hanging out at Riggle’s place in Ohio when they spotted the Ex-Gay funny car in the corner of the shop. They asked about the car and whether or not, if they put the car together, they could make a few laps with it. "Sure, why not?" said Riggle. Then the Hemi Under Glass AA/FC hit the drag strip with Dale Emery at the controls. The car only ran a few match races and one NHRA National event in Ohio before it disappeared into the funny car abyss.” (From Drag Race Central.com, Recycled Funny Cars II - https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=335010). Notes: The first time Emery drove this car in competition was at the NHRA Gatornationals in March. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the field. Emery set a track record at Edgewater Park National Open at 6.53/230.76 and ran 6.38/231.95 at Bristol. | Dale won the NHRA Division 1 Opener at Englishtown on May 6. He set both Low ET and Top Speed at 6.44/222.22 and beat Pee Wee Wallace in the final with a 6.48/183.29. At the NHRA Division 3 Opener, he won again. This time he set Low ET and Top Speed in the final with a 6.44/228.42 while beating Jim Paoli. The second Division 3 race was held at National Trail, and Dale qualified #2 in the eight-car field with a 6.94. In the first round, he improved to 6.73 but lost to a holeshot by Al Segrini, whose 6.76 got the win. On May 24, Emery was at Dragway 42 in Ohio for the AHRA Grand American. The car wasn't up to speed, but Dale beat Tom Hoover's ailing Satellite in the first round with an 8.01. In round two, a 7.12/162.45 lost to Dean LaPole's "pure" Chevy-powered car at 6.78/193. He qualified #5 back at National Trail for the NHRA Springnationals. He beat Clare Sanders in the "Ramchargers" car in the first round with a 6.63, but in round two, he slowed to 7.28/173.74 that lost to Prudhomme's troubled 7.02/216. A 6.61 qualified #14 at Englishtown for the NHRA Summernationals. In the first round, he advanced with a 6.56/228.42 when Russell Long's Charger broke. In round two, he picked up the pace to 6.46/229.00, beating Jim Nicoll's 6.83. Dale lost in the semifinals when his car broke against Leroy Goldstein. On July 25, Emery was at Maple Grove for its All-American race. It was a sixteen-car show, and he made it into the final before being stopped by Ed McCulloch. A 6.63/217.91 in the final lost to Ed's 6.45/225. Dale was runner-up again, this time to Paul Radici, on July 29 at the NHRA Division 3 race at Tri-City Dragway in Michigan. He ran 6.61/221.13 (Top Speed) in the final but lost to Paul's 6.54/209. At the NHRA Grandnationals in early August, Emery qualified #2 in the eight-car show with a 6.71/216.34. A first-round 6.73/216 beat Harlan Thompson; in the semifinals, he had a great leave, and his 6.71/215.35 beat Goldstein's 6.70/218 in the "Candies and Hughes" car. In the final, he went up against Frank Mancuso and took his first NHRA victory with a 6.70/219.50 (Top Speed) that beat Mancuso's 6.80. Emery qualified #8 in the 32-car show with a 6.60/222.77 at AHRA's National Challenge. He improved to 6.56/216 in the first round while beating John Dekker's 6.66/225. In round two, he beat Bob Pickett's 6.88 with a 6.61/216, but an off-pace 6.91/206 in round three lost to eventual winner Don Prudhomme's 6.56/197. With 50 FCs attempting to qualify for the sixteen-car field at Indy for the NHRA US Nationals, Dale ran 6.45/224.43 to qualify #10. A first-round 6.69/207 lost to Jim Liberman's 6.41. On September 8, he was at Beech Bend for the NHRA Division 3 race. Unfortunately, he fouled in the first round against Paul Day. Dale set a new IHRA Speed record in the final while winning at Bristol for the IHRA All-American Nationals. His final round 6.38/231.95 beat Raymond Beadle who smoked the tires in Don Schumacher's Vega. His speeds were real; in round two, he ran 6.48/225.56 over Shirl Greer and, in the semifinals, hit 227.27 while beating Billy Meyer. He was in the final at the next IHRA race as well, the US Open Nationals at Rockingham, where he runner-upped to Pat Foster in the Barry Setzer Vega. Dale finished runner-up to Tom McEwen at NHRA Ontario, where he ran amazing 6.280/229.59 best times. Info and times from National Dragster, 2/01/74. |

Notes: Photo from the 1974 NHRA Gatornationals, Gainesville, Florida. 6.73 Gainesville | Emery started the season by winning the NHRA Winternationals. He had ran 6.47/199.53 to qualify #6, and he picked up to 6.38/226.13 in the first round, to beat Don Prudhomme in his new Vega. A 6.46/223.88 in round two beat a tire smoking Dale Pulde in Mickey Thompson's Grand Am and a 6.47/223.32 in the semifinals took out John Collins. This put him in the final against Frank Hall driving Jim Green's "Green Elephant." Frank broke and Dale motored to the victory with a 6.36/222.77. At the NHRA Gatornationals, his 6.73 qualified #6, and he beat Tom Prock before losing to Prudhomme's 6.61 with a 6.95 in the second round. |

Notes: Where did Dale fill in for Ron in this car? | At some point during 1975, O’Donnell teamed up with Steve Ostrowsky as co-owners, and the car was renamed the O’Donnell & Ostrowsky Damn Yankee. Unsure of the exact date of that partnership. Information from Dennis Doubleday. JM |

Notes: Dale started driving for Mike at Indy, where he ran 6.315/230.76 to qualify #10. IN round one, he lost to Don Prudhomme, 6.16/213 to 6.380/226.70. Dale was the first alternate at NHRA Ontario at 6.388/222.77. Formerly listed 6.295 for this car. Did Dale run that in IHRA competition? Removing until we get confirmation. |

Notes: Dale subbed for Gene while he was recovering from back surgery. On May 4, he won the AHRA Southwest Grand American at Tulsa. He beat Jim Nicoll and Dick Custy to reach the finals, where he faced off against Raymond Beadle in the "Blue Max." Beadle had problems and shut off while Emery got the victory with a 6.63/218.44. He managed to lose twice at Rockingham for the IHRA Pro-Am Championships. Dee Simmons broke while beating him in the first round, so Dale got back in on the "break rule," but in round two, he shut off to 10.42 that lost to Shirl Greer's off-pace 7.12. At the NHRA Springnationals in June, he qualified #4 with a 6.495/202.24. A first-round 6.434/214.28 advanced when Tom Prock lost a blower and caught fire. In the second round, his 6.469/217.39 lost to Beadle's 6.44/225. At Indy and Ontario, he was in the Mike Burkhart Monza. |

Notes: The Paint only ran in 1976. Dale was at Beeline for the Phoenix Winter Classic in January. He lasted until the second round before losing to Gary Burgin. At Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals, his 6.22/212.26 qualified #5. Unfortunately, he lost to Larry Arnold driving the "Hawaiian" in the first round. The team failed to qualify at Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals. On May 2, Dale's 6.59/205.47 qualified #2 at LaPlace Dragway for the NHRA Cajun Nationals. He improved to 6.50 in the first round, to drop Gordon Mineo, and a 6.49 in the semifinals beat Johnny White. He was up against Raymond Beadle, driving the "Blue Max" in the final. Beadle was on a tear during this time, and his 6.70/217 stopped Dale's 6.78/224.43 (Top Speed) for the money. Later in May, Emery qualified #1 at Tulsa for the AHRA Okie Nationals with a 6.66. The traction was not the best, as the second qualifier was over a tenth back at 6.78. Dale ran steady, and his times kept improving. In round two, a 6.65/208.80 beat Tom Hoover's 6.71/217, and a semifinal 6.58/211.76 beat Tom McEwen's tire-smoking Duster. He faced Gene Snow in the final, and a Low ET 6.57 at 217.38 got him the victory over Snow's 6.76/187 runner-up attempt. St. Louis was the next stop for the team for the AHRA Springnationals. Emery beat Steve Hodkinson in the first round, with a 6.44/212.27, but he smoked the tires in the semifinals and lost to eventual winner Hoover. The following week (June 13), he was at the NHRA Springnationals, Dale qualified #6, but he was upset in the first round, when McEwen's 6.64/206 beat his 6.61/218.44. His best NHRA national event speed was 221.13 on a 6.506 qualifier at NHRA Columbus. |
