Notes: At the Irwindale Grand Premiere, Halloran qualified #8 in the sixteen-car field. In the first round, his 6.59/221.12 lost to Jim Liberman's 6.51/207. He failed to qualify at Pomona for the NHRA Winternationals. Mike won the OCIR Nitro Championships in July. He ran 6.36 and 6.52 on his way to the final, where he met and beat Neil Leffler in Jim Terry's Mustang for the title. It wasn't long after that, he won again at OCIR for the PDA Championships. It was a twelve-car show, and he ran a best of 6.56/222.22 (Top Speed) on the way to the final, where he met with Dave Condit in the "L. A. Hooker." Both drivers had trouble in the final, but Mike's 8.46/171.42 got the victory over Dave's 9.07/123. |

Notes: Hampton had notoriety in the mid-60s with twin-engined side by side AA/Comp dragster. Basically relied on his experience in building a similar rig powered by twin blown alky LT-I 350s. The car ran mid 7s. Hampton was 1970 NHRA Winternationals Top Gas champ, too. | Don ran this car at the final OCIR All-Pro race on March 28. He beat Ron Goodsell's quicker 7.72/190 in the first round, with a 7.89/193.50. In the second round, he singled with a 7.90/192.71 when Ray Alley was shut off on the line with problems. In the semifinals against Dave Beebe, he fouled away a 7.96/194.54. On April 4, he raced at Irwindale for an eight-car show. Beebe's 7.76/190 stopped him in the first round. He was back at OCIR in April for the Corvette Funny Car Championships where he set Top Speed at 191.89, but failed to make it to the finals. On May 2, OCIR held their Big Four Championships. It was supposed to be a 32-car field, but only 28 cars showed. Don got past the first-round when Dale Armstrong's car caught fire. In the second round, an 8.41/190.67 beat Ed Carter's 8.92/139. He lost to Gene Conway's 8.13/153 in the third round with an off pace 9.05/113.49. He lost to Vic Morse's 7.72/197 in the first round, at the OCIR Funny Car 500 on May 30. His 7.99/189.87 wasn't enough to get around the other Corvette. Irwindale held a Tom Ferraro Benefit race on June 6. Don ran a first-round 7.98/190.66 to get past a fouling Dick Poll. In the semifinal of the eight-car show, he beat Gary Densham's out of shape 8.19/180 with a 7.96/190.66. A final round 7.99/190.26 lost to Armstrong's 7.73/187. At the OCIR Nitro Championships on July 3, Hampton got out of shape and crossed the center line in the first round, and lost to Leroy Hales' 7.95/188. He did the same thing in the very first-round the next day at the Irwindale Fourth of July Championships. This time, he gave Ray Alley a free ride into the second round. |

Notes: Don was driving the "Beach City" car at Irwindale's New Year's Day race. He qualified #6 in the sixteen-car field with a 7.65 and in the first round, his 7.68/179.28 beat Lenarth's bad handling "Holy Toledo" Jeep. In the second round, his 7.48/201.34 beat Larry Reyes' 7.57/198 in the "Hawaiian." His run came to an end in the semifinals when he fouled against Clyde Morgan. |

Notes: First 200 mph pass at Numidia. Hanna owned the car fully, but Flynn was involved to use the car name. On June 8, he ran at Epping for the New England Funny Car Championships, but he lost to Jim Liberman in the first round. On July 20, he faced off against Terry Hedrick at Lebanon in a best two out of three match race. Terry's 7.31/200 beat Al's 7.95/176.50 in the first race, but Al came back to win the second to tie up the score. Terry took the win and the match in the final race with a track record 7.29/200 over Hanna's 7.62/191.40. Suffolk had an eight-car show on September 7, with all cars getting in three runs. Al won his first race with a 7.52/187.10 over Malcolm Durham, who lost fire. In his second race, he broke and watched Connie Kalitta single for a win. He ran a 7.65/180.00 for the win in the third race when Arnie Behling fouled in Ed Schartman's Cougar. The following day (September 8), he ran at Connecticut. A first-round 7.63/178.92 beat Curt Wasson's 8.26/180. In the second round, a good 7.65/192.70 wasn't good enough, as Clare Sanders' slower 7.75/184.42 beat him to the line. |
