Notes: Jacono's first flopper was an SOHC powered former Tasca Mustang in 1970 which burned up in his driveway before it had a chance to be sorted out. 7.44/195 were the first full runs on the car. Joe drove Al Graeber's car at Maple Grove for one run in Jul-70. Bought Mazmanian car later in 1970. |

Notes: Former Mazmanian Cuda, still has some remaining lettering from Mazmanian on front and rear fenders. | East Coast Drag News race promo from 3/26/72 cited a 216 mph Atco track record and a 222.22 speed and a defeat of Don Prudhomme at the CARS Magazine meet at Atco. We need to confirm those were in 1972 and need to confirm it was the funny car and not an earlier dragster. |

Notes: Jacono won the Cecil National Open on April 21. His opponent, Bob Mayer, broke in the final, and Jacono ran 6.71/172.74 for the victory. Shortly after that (May 4), he competed at York US 30 for its Funny Car Nationals. He failed to reach the finals there. He was at Englishtown for the NHRA Division 1 opener the following day. Unfortunately, he fouled against Bob Lagana in the first round. Joe was at Maple Grove in May for the Spring All-Pro Championships. It was an eight-car show, and in round one, his 6.77/177.51 beat Al Bergler. In the semifinal, he defeated "Jungle Jim" Liberman's 6.74 with a 6.71. But he had to face JJ again in the final as Bob Palmer had won his semifinal race but broke and could not run. Jim returned on the "break rule," and in the final, his 6.61/209 beat Jacono's 6.66/211.76. |

Notes: Arguably Joe's biggest win came at the 75 NHRA National Open at Cecil County over Bill Leavitt. Joe was at Atco on May 25 for the CARS Magazine Meet. In the first round, his 7.15/213.77 lost to Bill Leavitt's 7.12/204. He was at Connecticut in July for the Summer Funny Car Championships, but his 6.91/193.96 lost to eventual winner Leavitt’s 6.63/210 in the opening round. |

Notes: Joe's last year of competition until the 2000s. It also had a very clean white-on-red panel paint job. Jacono was at Suffolk in April for an eight-car show. His 6.79/189.07 advanced in the first round when Jim Wemett's car broke. In the semi-final, he shut down to 13/52.17 with problems against Arne Swensen's 6.75/200. Joe was at Empire Dragway in August for its Gold Cup Championships. It was an eight-car show, and in the first round, his 6.96/177.16 lost to Dodger Glenn's 6.56/218 in the "Frantic Ford."He was back at Suffolk in September for the Dixie Drag Classic. In the opening round, his 6.62/196.96 beat Tom Prock in the "Custom Body" car. An off-pace 7.40/129.31 in the semi-final lost to eventual winner Pee Wee Wallace's 6.57/216. |

Notes: Jefferson was at LaPlace in March for the NHRA Division 4 race. Unfortunately, his troubled 7.39/151.77 in the opening round lost to Tom McEwen's 6.80/193. Jerry was the third alternate for the eight-car field at the NHRA Cajun Nationals with a 6.550 (no speed reported). The car became the Spurlin & Barr Penny Pincher TA/FC. |

Notes: One of the greatest out-of-nowhere runs in NHRA history. Jefferson's previous best was in the 6.30s. Jefferson began the year with the old-style Corvette that he ran at the NHRA D4 Green Valley race, but was replaced with this new body. The car was destroyed early next year at the IHRA Winternationals at Darlington. - Danny White |

Notes: Jesse was at US 30, York, PA, on June 18 for an eighteen-car show. He warmed up with a 9.37/152.80 as there was no qualifying for the race. In the opening round, he faced Dave Strickler, and the Corvette's 9.06/155 beat the GTO's 9.07/152.02. These times were run in his "65 GTO as he also had his '67 GTO at the race, but in his only race with the newer car, he got crossed up and crossed the centerline. His opponent, "Dyno Don," Nicholson had fouled against him. |
